→"Woah! Don't sear at me you prissy little pompous idiot!"
SATURDAY 5:19 ☎
"Okay, Mom. We're ready. Tell us everything." I said to her and she seemed to be ready to talk about it, but Aidan interrupted the mood.
"Anna, there are things you don't understand-" I had enough of him. He was really still here? He wasn't related to anyone here, he was just a moment of weakness.
"Aidan do not speak. You may have some thing going on with my mother, but we come first. Her kids come first. Okay? Now if your gonna keep interrupting you need to leave. I 'm getting tired of having to pull the truth out of her, and I'm not gonna do it forever. I'm not." I sighed at him, and he seemed to actually for once listen to what someone was telling him.
He looked at my mom and decided to keep quiet.
"Your father, Simone and I were all friends back in the day. Best friends. But um, Pete had fallen in love with the both of us, and he had to choose one. He choose me, and that's when we graduated and got engaged and brought a house and married each other." She stopped to think for a bit, maybe it was hard for her. I can't tell because as far as I know, he just went back to Simone what was the point of telling this story from the beginning?
Simone looked at my mother, and took over for her. "So, she had Rosalie and then you and Iris and Kurt. And me and your father seemed to fall out of each other's lives. But when he and I reconnected, I - I wasn't the real reason he left your mother. It's what happened afterwards."
Rosalie settled into her seat a little more, and so did I.
"I was pregnant with another baby, not your fathers. It was some man, a useless man. As soon as I told him he had left me to raise the child alone. That's when Pete found me, and was willing to help me take care of the baby. But," She closed her eyes in shame, "It never made it past four months."
Mom looked surprised, and she reached her hand out for Simone. "I'm so sorry, why didn't you tell me? I would have helped you."
"I- I was aware that Pete had left home for good. I couldn't come back to you when I felt this sense of guilt, that he was staying with me instead of being with his family - his real family." She admitted to us, and I could hear her voice becoming hurt. "And he stayed for a year, and we fell back in love. He said he wouldn't dare leave me, and then we had Carina."
This was really hard to hear. I always saw my parents as the ultimate endgame, they moved each other they really did. I just don't understand what would make him up and leave.
"But then, Danny the father of the unborn child came back. He thought Carina was his, and he was upset that I didn't reach out to him, but Carina was Pete's child. And that made Pete angry, because he didn't want Danny anywhere near Carina, he was her father after all. And then came the fight." Simone deluded to us. Aidan's emotions toward her seemed to be changing by every sentence she said.
"Your father, and Danny. They fought, and Pete said something. Like it was personal. He said 'I bailed on them, like you did.' After that night, I didn't see Pete or Danny ever again." Simone fought back the tears as Mom was holding her hand.
"Four years later, I got a call from the morgue. They had identified a burn victim's body as your fathers, and the needed me to identify it. I went- I saw him and it was true." Mom said so suddenly, which made a tear slip onto her cheek.
What?
How was dad a burn victim? And why was he in the morgue? They put dead people there, and dad isn't dead.
He's not dead.
I just learned that he has a new child! Who could he be dead?
"Mommy, is dad- is is he, when you went to the morgue, you saw-" Rosalie stopped the words from coming out of her mouth. She stopped looking at mom completely, and just looked me.
I- I didn't know. I don't know anything anymore.
My dad, he was gone. Gone and never coming back this time.
How could she just keep-
I was out having fun, while my father was dead! She let everyone believe everything was okay?! Sh- she invited us here for what? To tell us dad was gone? Why not sooner? Why for two months?
"Mom, how could you do this? Why would you do this?" I asked her in a calm tone. If you knew me, you knew me sing this tone was not a good thing. I was so angry, that I was unbelievable calm.
"I- I didn't know what to do! He was gone! And then he had a kid! He left us! A- He just died!" She screamed back at me, which was even worse because now I was pretty sure the little kids could hear us.
"Mom, that doesn't give you the right to talk about him the way you've been. And just try to erase him. You loved him, and he's gone, but now not only you have to deal with it. We all have to deal with it. You should have just never- what the hell did you call us over for two months?" Rose asked her, her voice was raising by the second.
"His funeral, it's on Monday." Mom said quietly.
And then the whole house was silent. She was going to have him buried? She called us all out here, and at the end of this vacation, we were going to burry our father? How could she do this to us?
"What?" Rose asked her again. It wasn't a real question, just more of a 'repeat that'. I didn't need to hear it again, she wouldn't play around like this. She loved dad, honestly truly. And if this was the way she was dealing with it, albeit it was a crap way, then I can't blame her.
"Rose, let's go upstairs. Give her a moment." I said, and Rose flew up at my comment. She was up the steps in a hurry, but I was left downstairs with the adults. "I love you mom."
She looked at me with astonishment on her face, "I love you too."
