Later That Day
Aria's PovI open the front door, letting Emily, Spencer, and Hanna inside. They all take off their shoes, then follow me into the living room. Piper and Stella look up from playing with their toys on the floor, both widening their eyes as they see my friends. They excitedly jump up and hug them, wide smiles on their faces.
"How are you munchkins?" Spencer asks.
"Good!" Both Stella and Piper say at the same time.
"And auntie Spencer did you know I gotta cupcake?" Stella asks in her slightly babyish voice.
"Did you?" Spencer replies, bending down to her height "And how was that?"
"Yummy in my tummy." She smiles, placing her hands on her stomach. Spencer pokes Stella's ribs, causing her to squeal with laughter and run away. As she's running across the room, Stella turns around to look if she's being chased, and before I can reach out to stop her she runs right into the corner of the tv stand. Everyone gasps quietly, no one wanting to say a single word. Not even Stella does anything yet, standing still as if she hasn't quite registered what happened. But after a few painfully long seconds, she bursts into tears and runs over to me. I scoop her up as she begins to wail louder, holding onto me tightly.
"Shhhhh," I bounce her gently "It's okay. You're okay." Still, she cries so loudly that she has to suck in a deep breath every few seconds because of it. I rub her back and hold her tightly to me, kissing the top of her head every so often.
"Where does it hurt the most Stella?" I ask softly.
"Here," She sobs, leaning back and pointing to her forehead. There's a bright red welt, the skin slightly broken in the middle.
"Here, why don't we go upstairs and put a bandaid on that?" I say gently, standing up and walking out of the room with Stella on my hip.
"What happened Stelly-Boo?" Ezra asks as he passes us on the stairs. She tries to explain it to him, but her crying makes her words incoherent.
"She ran into the tv stand." I say for her.
Ezra frowns "Well, Stella, would it help if you did the same thing but on the other side of your forehead to balance it out?" Even though I know he's joking, I still roll my eyes at him. Stella, on the other hand, just cries even louder.
"Not helping." I huff, marching up the rest of the stairs and into the bathroom. I set my crying daughter on the counter and get a bandaid from the drawer, pausing to look at her wound.
"Want Guggy." Stella whines, talking about her frog stuffed animal.
"Okay, let's go get Guggy." I reply optimistically, lifting her back off of the counter and carrying her with me into her room. Stella's walls are an off-white greyish colour, everything else in the room either white, pink, or gold. Designing everything was just as fun as I remember it being for Piper's, and of course my friends helped me this time around as well.
I find Stella's stuffed animal tucked underneath her blankets, and she clutches it tightly once I hand it to her. After I bandage her cut, we go back downstairs in the living room where everyone waits.
"Are you okay Stella?" Piper immediately asks from Emily's lap. As she sucks her thumb with her 'Guggy' in her hand, Stella nods. Although she no longer cries, there are tears left on her face and she still clings to me tightly.
