Later That Day
Aria's Pov
"So how was the mall?" Ezra asks as we all sit down for dinner.
"It was good, I think the babies' nursery will actually be done soon." I smile.
"Awesome." He replies.
"I picked out some things for it," Stella adds "Do you want to see?"
"After dinner, how about?" Ezra suggests.
"Okay." She agrees, taking another bite of her food.
"What about you Pipes, how was the mall?" Piper just stares at her Dad, an uneasy look on her face.
"Good." She replies, looking back down at her plate.
"That's all? Did you buy anything?" Ezra continues.
"No," Piper answers "There was nothing I liked."
As soon as dinner's finished, we all head to the living room to watch a movie, all except Piper, who runs up to her room. Ezra and I exchange a glance.
"Should we go see what's up?" He asks.
"Maybe," I shrug "Although I don't want to be that prying parent. She's allowed to want to be alone without being questioned."
"I know, but she just seems a little...unsettled or something." Ezra replies.
"Yeah you're right." I sigh "Maybe I'll go and see if she wants to talk about it."
As I head upstairs, I think of what I want to say exactly. Piper's the oldest, meaning I've never experienced having a kid her age before. In reality, I'm growing and learning as she does. I start by knocking lightly on her bedroom door.
"Hey Pipes, can I come in?" I ask softly.
"Yeah." She replies, her voice quiet. I open her door, then walk over to where she sits on her bed.
"Still reading that book?" I ask, pointing to the one in her hands.
"Uh huh," Piper nods "I think I'll be done it soon." I play with my fingers as I try to think of what to say next.
"So I just wanted to make sure everything's okay," I blurt out "I can tell that something's off."
She looks at me, an unsure look in her blue eyes "Everything's fine Mom."
"Okay," I nod, studying her "I just want you to know that you can come to me for anything, I'm always here for you."
"I know," Piper smiles after a moment "Thanks."
"So we're all watching a movie downstairs, wanna join?" I offer.
"Um..." She looks down at the book in her lap "Yeah sure. I'll be down in a couple minutes."
"Okay great." I say, kissing her forehead before leaving the room.
Piper's Pov
As soon as my Mom shuts the door, I open up my book and shake it lightly until a piece of paper falls out. Even though I've read it about a million times already, I scan the note one more time. I don't know who this "V" person is or how they got a picture of me today in the change rooms, but I do know that if I tell my parents, it'll become a bigger deal than it has to. I'm just going to pretend that it didn't happen; I know it was someone just trying to freak me out anyway.
After tucking the note back into my book, I join my parents and sister downstairs on the couch. My Dad gives me his usual happy smile, then opens his arms wide. I sit down and lean against him, and he immediately hugs me.
