Later That Day
Aria's Pov
Piper and I sit in The Brew, sipping warm drinks and reading good books. Though there is a small section of children's books available for reading, Piper's chosen to read me some of the first Harry Potter book instead.
"This is a big book." She says with wide eyes "It's gonna take a while."
"Yeah, I don't think we'll be finishing it anytime soon." I chuckle. Piper opens the book up, glancing at me as if for approval to start.
"Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much." She reads the first sentence, stopping a couple times to double check with me about the pronunciation of some words.
"They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or m-myst...what's that say Mommy?" Piper asks.
"Mysterious." I tell her.
"Mysterious." She nods "Because they just didn't hold with such nonsense."
We stay at The Brew for another half hour, Piper continuing to read to me the entire time. After putting the book back on the shelf, we get our jackets on and head outside to the car.
"I like that book." Piper says, glancing up at me as we walk down the street.
"Yeah it's a good one." I smile "You did a good job at reading it, you know."
She grins "Really?"
"Yeah, I mean it." I reply "You're such a strong reader for your age."
"But I didn't know some of the words." Piper frowns.
"And that's totally understandable, you're still only learning." I say "That's a novel meant for people older than you, you're only six remember."
"I know, I'll be seven in January!" She exclaims.
"Piper, it's only the very beginning of March, you've still got over ten months until your birthday." I chuckle.
"Is that a really long time?" She questions.
"Well...twelve months is a year, so kind of." I explain.
"That is a long time." Piper sighs "How long until Stella's birthday?"
"She was born on September 2nd, so about six months away." I tell her.
"And then she'll be three?" Piper asks.
"And then she'll be three." I huff, wishing time would slow down.
After getting back to the car and helping Piper buckle up, I climb into the front seat and try to think of what we should do next. I ask Piper for any suggestions, although the best she can come up with is Disneyland or adopting all the cats and dogs from the shelter.
"Hey, didn't you want to visit auntie Hanna and show her your outfit?" I ask.
"Oh yeah!" Piper gasps "Can we do that?"
"I'll text her and see if she's busy." I reply. I grab my phone from my purse, composing a text to Hanna.
Me: Hey are you home rn? Today P picked out her outfit all by herself and wants to show you, also I wouldn't mind a little visit 💕
After about a minute or so, she texts back.
Hanny🔥💩: Yeah I'm home, please come over!! Madden is being a little shit today and I need to interact with a real human. Tell Miss P that I'm excited to see her outfit😊
