A Few Days Later
Aria's Pov

"You must be so excited for a baby boy," Hanna gushes, hanging some knitted infant boys' sweaters on a rack "I love little girl clothes, but something about boy clothes is just so much fun."

"I have to admit, it's gonna be a little weird having a boy." I reply "All I know is girls."

"Oh you'll love having a boy," She says "They're so much easier than girls are, oh my god believe me on that one." I just chuckle, re-folding a white bamboo newborn onesie and putting it back on the shelf. I'm helping Hanna put out new stock and rearrange her store LUXE this morning, as apparently a new setup every season is necessary. So, on this early morning hours before the store opens, we're moving around shelves, tables, and racks of baby and children clothes.

"Guess what Madden told me the other day," Hanna says "He told me that he has a crush on a girl. How is my baby old enough to have a crush on someone?"

"Wow, that was fast." I raise my eyebrows "He's barely eight."

"I know," She sighs "I asked him if it was Stella, but he said no."

"Good, Stella's too young to be liking boys." I scrunch my nose.

"She's six months older than Madden." Hanna replies "I'm sure she has a crush on someone."

"Hey, everyone matures at different rates." I answer "She doesn't have to have a crush on anyone until she's thirty if she wants."

"I'm sure it'll happen before then." She chuckles "And if not, lucky you. I can't believe my baby boy is old enough to like girls, where has the time gone?"

"Tell me about it," I roll my eyes "Remember when we were in high school and we thought we were practically grown? We had no idea."

"No idea at all." Hanna agrees. For the next few minutes, we continue to fold and hang clothes in near silence, before I remember something that's been on my mind lately.

"Piper's been so distant these past couple weeks, even more so in last few days." I blurt "She won't tell us what's up, but it's definitely something."

"Maybe she's starting to go through that weird preteen stage, she is twelve after all." Hanna suggests "She's probably just starting puberty, it's totally normal to be a little standoffish."

"I thought about that, but then the other day Ezra told me about a little encounter between them. He went up to her bedroom and she looked like she had just been crying, and when he asked her what was wrong, she completely broke down." I explain "He said that he hasn't seen her cry that hard in a long time, and once she calmed down a little she still wouldn't tell him what was wrong. And you know how Piper is with her Dad, she tells him everything."

"Hmm," Hanna frowns "That's a little weird. Have you tried talking to her about it since then?"

"Not specifically, I don't think I'm going to get anywhere if I just keep asking her what's wrong." I say "I've been sitting down with her and giving her lots of opportunities to open up though, but it doesn't work either."

"Well Piper knows she can go to you or Ezra with anything, so I guess there's not much else you can do. She'll open up if she wants, but you can't really force her." Hanna replies.

"I know." I sigh, not feeling much better about the whole situation.

Later That Day
Piper's Pov

"And so the answer is..."

Macyn nudges my arm, pointing at our teacher, Mr. Reynolds. I look at him, then back to my best friend.
