Two Days Later
Aria's Pov

"Okay girls, time for bed." Ezra says to Piper and Stella as he shuts off the tv.

Piper turns sharply toward him "But Daddy—"

"No buts kiddo, it's bedtime." He cuts her off "You have school tomorrow."

"Can we have a story?" She asks with a smile.

"Fine, but first you both have to go get all ready for bed." Ezra tells them "Which Mommy will gladly help you with." He grins at me, which I respond with by rolling my eyes jokingly.

"Come on you two." I say as I stand up off the couch "Jammies and teeth." I usher Stella and Piper upstairs, helping them get ready for bed. This consists of brushing teeth, putting on pajamas, and for Stella, a nighttime pull-up as well. Then, we pick out clothes, turn on night lights, and sort out any stuffed animals that either of the girls are missing from their beds. This whole bedtime thing is kind of a big deal.

"Can we go in the big bed for the story?" Stella asks as I pull a pajama shirt over her head.

"Yeah, I guess so." I reply. Since Stella and Piper have separate rooms, bedtime stories are usually told in the living room or Ezra and I's bed, the girls carried to their own beds if they fall asleep.

Once they're settled among the pillows and tucked beneath the blankets, Ezra comes and joins me to tell our daughters their bedtime story. And since both girls have decided they like us to tell them a real story opposed to reading one from a book, we have to think of one first.

"Okay, what do my two little bedbugs want to hear about tonight?" Ezra asks sarcastically.

"We're not bedbugs." Piper chuckles.

"Yes you are." He replies jokingly "You're infesting Mommy and I's bed."

"What are bedbugs?" Stella questions.

"Bedbugs are two little girls named Stella and Piper." Ezra tells them with a grin "Sound familiar?" Both girls laugh, the sound like music to my ears.

"I've got a story." I offer "How about the day Stella was born?" Last week, they heard about the day Piper was born, which for some reason interested them so much.

"Yeah!" Stella exclaims, looking at her sister excitedly.

"Ooh, this is a great one!" Ezra says just as enthusiastically "I know exactly where to start! So, once upon a time, only a couple years ago, lived a Daddy, a little girl, and a very pregnant Mommy." Both girls giggle "This fall day was like many others, except for the fact that this was the day their little Stella Rae was to be born! They didn't know it at first, because she was supposed to come into the world almost a week earlier, except she decided to stay in Mommy's tummy a little longer. But Mommy and Daddy and the then three-year-old Piper really wanted to meet their daughter and little sister, so they tried doing everything to get the baby to come. They went on lots of walks, made sure Mommy ate lots of acidic fruit, and even had her bounce on an exercise ball all the time. But still, that Stella girl was stubborn and stayed right where she was."

"Wait, let me add something!" I cut in "Stella also made Mommy have to pee every five seconds and made her feel like she'd been kicked in the—"

"Okay, Daddy's gonna finish the story now!" Ezra interrupts, giving me a smile "So, that September day, Mommy and Daddy took Piper to the park down the street. There were a few white clouds in the sky, but the weather was surprisingly warm. They pushed Piper in the swing, helped her down the slide, they did everything to get their minds off the fact that baby Stella just wasn't coming yet. But here's where things got exciting!" Both girls giggle excitedly, watching Ezra eagerly.
