Eventually, Craig had to leave again. He even promised Kenny that if he'd have to stay more than overnight, he'd bring the other boys with him again. That made Kenny happier again, the thought of his friends caring enough to come and visit him always made him feel better. After Craig left, Kenny decided to show he could be let home by voluntarily taking his medicine. This time, even the right amount of pills. It probably didn't help much, but was worth a shot.

Kenny was used to staying up really late, so the time he had to go to sleep was really early to him. This time, though, he couldn't sleep. He was stressing about whether he'd get home or not. Silently laying on his bed, staring at the roof.
If a nurse happened to walk by and check on him, he'd pretend to be sleeping. That's what he did pretty much every night, until he actually fell asleep. He was quite sure they wouldn't be happy to see him up at two in the morning. And any sleeping pills Kenny did not want.

Eventually, he fell asleep. In the morning, he woke up at the usual time. He got breakfast and his meds before the doctor came in.

"So, what do you think about it now? Would you like to stay or not?"

"I.. I'd like to go home." Kenny said.

"Are you sure you'll manage? Promise you'll take your medication?" the doctor asked.

"I'll be fine, I promise." Kenny tried to convince him into letting him home.

"Well, that's clear then. I'll inform your parents and talk with them."

Kenny smiled. The doctor left the room, just for a few minutes before coming back to inform that his parents were on their way.

Didn't take long for them to arrive. Kenny waited anxiously for them to stop talking with the doctor. What if they wouldn't let him come home? What if they wanted him to stay?

After a good while the doctor finally came in. Kenny looked at him nervously, waiting for him to say something. But he didn't say anything about the thing Kenny wanted to know.

All he did was check Kenny once again. Kenny was nervous, but ended up being fine. He could walk and such, and was able to convince the therapist he was alright.

"So, I just talked with your parents. They just wanted to be sure if you're stable enough for home."

"A-am I?"

"It seems like you are. Here you go, you can change these on." the doctor handed Kenny his own clothes, before walking out to give Kenny some privacy.

Kenny then changed his own clothes on. He didn't really have anything with him, but he packed the few things he had. He sat on his bed, waiting for someone to let him out.

"Kenny?"

It was his mother's voice. And it came from the door. Kenny looked up and saw his parents on the doorway, with the doctor behind them.

"What do you say, what if we went home?" his dad asked.

Kenny nodded, smiling. He was already signed out, so he was free to go.

It felt good to walk out of the hospital, jump in the car and drive home. Once he was in the car, he took out his phone and texted Craig.

"I got out!"
