Thump-thump

"Life status: 73 percent." The metallic voice from my ear echoed.

Thump-thump

I was conscious, I realized, moments after I'd actually awoken.

It was dark, but I wasn't uncomfortable. You know when you get in that one position in your sleep and you just can't move because-damn. That's what it felt like.

I couldn't open my eyes. This was odd for me, because I'd developed a bad case of insomnia over the past year in–I don't want to think about that right now. My eyelids were heavy, as if bricks weighed them down.

Thump-thump

It was hard to feel anything, except for the splitting headache I had. I felt the urge to groan, but my voice caught in my throat.

I couldn't move. Not even the smallest of twitches. It was like my muscles were paralyzed. It's hard to explain it in any other way.

I wasn't cold, but I wasn't hot. It was like... I don't know what it felt like. I couldn't feel anything, at the moment. Just... numb.

Thump-thump

"Life status: 95 percent." The voice brought me out of my thoughts. Still in my ear. Wasn't foreign for me. I'll explain it later, once I got out of here.

Thump-thump

I heard muffled voices from outside, but I couldn't make anything out. Just muffled. Was I surrounded by a fortress of pillows? That would be weird. It was weird that even the thought of 'pillows' came to mind. To me, that was foreign.

Thump-thump

"Life status: 1–"

A loud hiss exploded through my ears, and my legs suddenly gave out from under me. I opened my eyes, and was met with a glaring bright light. I gasped, stumbling out from... whatever that thing I was in was.

"Ow–Wait-wha-whoah!" My arms flailed out in front of me, instinctively trying to grab something to catch myself.

I was caught, and I stood there frozen for a long moment, staring at the chest of... something that wore a green jacket and a grey shirt.

"Where am I?" I asked suddenly. The grip the thing had on me tightened. "And who are you?" I didn't lift my eyes up to its face.

"The name's Lance, and you're right here in my arms." A very flirtatious voice answered.

I furrowed my eyebrows. That sounded oddly... I lifted my eyes to meet his. Human.

I screeched, and stumbled back, tripping on the stairs behind me. I didn't know that there were stairs there. Anyways, I fell with a harsh thud.

I sat up, staring with wide eyes at the scene before me.

"Oh my gods–"

"Hey, that's me!" The voice in my ear said. It took all of my mental and physical willpower to not retort back.

"Holy ever loving..." I blinked.

One two three... four, five six... and seven, including the guy who'd caught me. Seven human like, or actual human, creatures were in the room with me.

"Yep. We're the real deal." The guy who'd caught me said, giving me a goofy grin, offering me a hand.

I knew he meant well with the kind gesture, but I yelped anyways, and scrambled away. He gave me a bewildered look.

"I think you scared her." A small one dressed in a weird green outfit pointed out. I found it hard to tell if they were male or female.

A woman with very pretty silver hair pushed past the one in the grey shirt, and gently kneeled down to my sprawled out form. I noticed that she had funny pink markings under her eyes, which looked almost like triangles, but not quite.

"My name is Princess Allura of Altea. You're safe now, so no need to feel scared." Her voice had an odd accent to it. It wasn't too noticeable, but I still couldn't really put a finger on it.

My heart and head gave a united throb, and I felt my eyes well. I immediately looked away, blinking the tears back. It didn't help that much.

"Ah, sorry," My voice cracked, and I buried my eyes into the palms of my hands for a second. "It's been a bit, y'know? Since I've seen a face I could actually register." I chuckled weakly.

"Hey, it's okay." I heard a new voice, and I looked up, bleary eyed, to see a man. He had an odd hair cut. A large chunk of white hair sat at the very top of his forehead, the rest was black, almost like a buzz cut, but not exactly. It was hard to explain. "I had that moment too. Except a little less... pleasurable."

Four of the humans nodded, as if they were in on it. Suddenly, something clicked.

"Zarkon." I said, my heartbeat racing. "You–you... on his ship?" I managed to say, brushing away the rest of my tears.

"Yes." He nodded, and smiled at me, offering me a hand. This time, I took it, with a light smile on my face.

Allura helped me steady myself. My knees quaked, and I frowned irritably.

"You were just napping..." The voice in my ear whispered.

I decided not to talk back, in case they would freak out, y'know? The guest always has to make sure their host doesn't think they're insane.

"Names?" I looked up from my legs.

"I'm Shiro," The man with the strange haircut said.

"You've met Lance," the guy in the grey shirt gave me a flashy smile.

"And the princess. That's Pidge," He nodded over to the small one in green, who waved.

"Keith."

"The grumpy red one..." Lance muttered.

"Hey!" Keith exclaimed. He actually was probably the only person I've seen who could rock a mullet.

"And Hunk." He cut in before the two boys could start fighting, which I get the feeling they did often. What were they? What was the word...? Rivals. Anyways, Hunk was a heavily built fellow, who wore a yellow shirt.

"I'm Coran, also from Altea!" The ginger by some controls announced. He had a very different accent from Allura's, and I still couldn't put a finger on it.

"And you? What's your name?" Lance asked, after Keith and him had a stare down that seemed to solve their disagreement.

"I'm (Y/n), of Echao."
