It was silent in the small compartment except for the small beeping sounds of the buttons.
It was dark. The only light we had was from the blinking console and from the dark space that stretched before us. Blue and green nebulas made it a beautiful sight to see whilst flying.
My knuckles were white from clutching onto the wheel. I was paranoid that something was going to abduct us while we were out here.
We'd been flying for a few hours now, and (B/n) had finally finished tinkering with the tracking devices. We were now completely alone. There was no way they could find us.
"It's weird." (B/n) said suddenly. We'd mostly flown in silence, and the sudden sound of his voice had caused me to jump a little.
"How so?" I glanced at him.
"It's been five to six years since we've seen each other, and the moment we're reunited we just... leave the people who were so kind to let us stay. Or, let you stay and tolerate me." He said.
"I've been feeling that since the decision." I sighed. "But it's for the best. We can't distract those guys from their main mission; defeating Zarkon."
"Do you think that our solar system has been conquered yet?" He asked, fiddling with the wooden knife I'd given him.
"If it has, then we're going to liberate everyone." I said firmly.
"That sounds like fun."
We both fell silent after that. What else could we talk about? I could ask about how much has changed. After all, I had been gone for a max of five years. He'd been on Echao for four of those years, then was taken by the Galra for some unknown reason.
But... why talk about it when I'm going to see it for myself?
I was awfully conflicted at the moment.
I watched the gps on the console, to see that I was still on track.

After a long while, we were confronted by a large, swirling galaxy.
I stared at the sparkling swirl in awe. We were still very far away from home, but we were here.
"Wow." (B/n) just summed up my thoughts in a single word.
It was oddly comforting, just hovering in space, watching our galaxy slowly spin, glimmering. It was even more comforting that our solar system was somewhere in there.
Our sun was in there. Our neighbouring planets. Our planet. And in that planet was our oceans, landmarks, and most importantly, smoothies.
Wait, scratch that.
Most importantly, our family.
Family first, smoothies after.
"I think that we're safe to go." Nunarae spoke up. "We are on the edge of known space. The Galra would see nothing for them here."
My eyes widened. "Really?"
"Hell yeah!" (B/n) cheered, pumping his fist in the air, nearly punching the glass.
A smile made its way to my face, and I immediately sped us forwards. "Alright, where exactly is our solar system?"
"The far right of the swirl." Nunarae said. I banked the space pod.
(B/n) seemed to be getting more and more jittery. I couldn't blame him. We'd get to drink smoothies together again.
I was just scared that he'd get so emotionally excited that he'd jump out of the pod and fly to our home himself.
