Poof. Hiss-.
I stumbled out of the healing pod, one hand clutching my chest. This time, I fell hard into the ground with a thud. Where was a Lance when you needed one?
"Took you long enough." Nunarae muttered.
"Ouch." I complained.
"You've been out for two full days." She reported.
"WHAT!?" I yelled in dismay, and stood up, only to lurk to the side and collapse again.
"Graceful." She observed.
"Shut up! Help me–Oh, wait." I sighed in frustration, as the goddess was currently only an ear piece.
"Two whole days... is it night right now?" I asked her.
"It's always night in space." She pointed out.
I looked out the window at the other side of the room, and saw thousands of stars, twinkling brightly in the infinite abyss.
"Oh my gods..." I sighed.
"Yes, it is in fact nighttime. The Paladins are awake. Want me to get them?" She asked.
"What?"
"Oh, right. The little green one took out the ear piece and was able to alter it so I can talk speaker. And also made a couple things I could easily possess in case something was wrong." She explained.
I sighed, currently too groggy to be angry. "Just go..."
"Be back in a flash!" And with that, her presence was gone. My heartbeat rose.
I felt funny. I hadn't been parted from my companion for so long. I couldn't feel her anymore. I sat there in the eerie silence, slowly thinking about how I felt.
I realized that I could hear her thoughts, as they were currently gone. And that she made my movements and senses sharper. My eyesight became... less. My sense of smell dulled, along with my hearing. When I touched the floor, it didn't seem as defined as it normally was.
The difference was so overwhelming that I got a headache. Just great. Perfect.
Suddenly, I felt her come back. My headache decreased, but didn't go away.
"They're coming. Give them a few minutes. They just got out an intense goo battle." The goddess explained.
"Should I ask?"
"No. Don't." She advised.
I rubbed my temples with a long sigh. I felt sick, which didn't surprise me. Healing pod or no, I knew that I'd have some sort of side affect from the battle.
I yawned. I didn't feel as rested as I did with my first experience with the pod.
I just felt my hygiene go spiralling off to never land, which for all I knew, existed.
I heard footsteps a few minutes later, and the door to the room opened, with more of a squeal than a hiss. Someone needed to oil that. The Paladins and two Alteans stood there with concerned looks on their faces, but looked slightly ridiculous with that green food goo smushed in their hair and on their clothing.
I lifted a hand and waved. "Greetings. I've been expecting you."
Keith sighed, and Lance laughed. It was clear that I shared a sense of humour with someone.
Shiro was the first one over, and crouched down beside me.
"Are you okay?" He asked, frowning. I poked his nose.
"I'd be better if I had ice cream." I said with a grin, and he sighed like a disappointed parent. I guess that he was a disappointed parent.
"Help me up, please. It seems that my legs have died." I realize that I was a tad bit dramatic with that sentence, but Shiro helped me up anyways.
"You look sick." Allura said, hurrying over and looking at me with worry in her eyes.
"I am sick." I muttered.
"We can put her back in the healing pod." Lance suggested.
"Unless you want your limbs pulled off, you won't." I stated. Shiro glared at me, and I gave him an innocent smile.
"She's right. Too much time in the pod can make negative side effects." Coran said.
"Ah. Lovely." I muttered, and yawned.
"I think that sleep would be the best option for her." Keith said, his arms folded as per usual.
"No. I don't think that sleep would be good for her. She was just sleeping." I protested in the third person. Maybe I was a little bit loopy. I hadn't said stuff in the third person in ages.
"She was in a healing pod that simulated sleep." Pidge argued, and I glared at them in betrayal. Pidge shrugged.
"You guys aren't fun." I sighed.
"You won't be either if you're sick." Lance said.
"Lance, I want to hit you with a chair." I said bluntly.
"Okay. Off to your room we go." Shiro said, and picked me up bridal style. Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but it would've been better if they weren't forcing me to do something I'd already done.
"HEY!" I yelled. "THIS IS HIGHLY UNFAIR!"
"All in vote of (Y/n) going to her room to get real rest raise your hand!" Pidge said quickly, and all of their hands shot up. Except Shiro, who rose a foot, which I think is cheating. "Now it's fair!" Pidge announced.
"Screw you guys!" I yelled as Shiro carried me out of the healing room.
"You know, we're just trying to help." He murmured once we were out of earshot.
"I know, but you guys are taking it a little too far. I'm not a child." I emphasized.
"You're acting like one."
"You're horrible." I pointed out.
"I've gotten that message." He smiled.
I couldn't stay mad at this little cinnamon roll, so I just fell silent, allowing him to carry me to my room.
To be totally honest with you, I fell asleep halfway there. In his arms.
How embarrassing.
