Reclaiming The Hook

Chapter 2

Maui's POV

Sailing on the open sea and having no land in sight annoys me to my very core. Moana's driving me nuts with demands every two seconds. Every time I try to object, she threatens me. I hate to admit it, but she has more power than me right now. The ocean is smitten with her and will help her fulfill her desires. Until I get my hook back from that stupid crab, I'm pretty much useless except for navigating and strength. in case you wondering, the crab's name is Tamatoa. What a weird name for a weird crab. I guess it suits him.

Tamatoa stole my hook a few weeks ago and I've been trying to get it back ever since. Until little miss Moana arrived, I haven't had the resources to venture to the island he lives on. After arguing with her through the night, I agreed to consider restoring the heart of Tahiti if we could get my hook back. She reluctantly agreed and I felt a short burst of victory.

  Two hours later...

We slowly sail into the island where Tamatoa lives. When we properly tie the boat up, I stop Moana from rushing past me. "Hold up there miss. You don't know Tamatoa. Despite being a creepy weirdo, he is capable of doing some damage when he wants to. You need to do exactly what I'm about to tell you okay?" She sighs but nods. "You're going to be a diversion. You're going to distract Tamatoa while I grab my hook from his storage bay as quick as possible. He loves talking about himself so just ask him all the questions you can. Just note though, that he often answers in song. His singing is god awful and I pity anyone who has to listen to it.

We make our way into his chambers. I hide behind a giant rock and shove Moana right into his plane of sight. She glares at me before her nerves get the best of her. I really hope she doesn't mess this up. If she does, she's done for.

  Moana's POV

I go up to Tamatoa and tap him gently on one of arms. He turns around instantly. He squints a few times and tells me to pick an eye to look into. Apparently he can't use both of his eyes at once. I introduce myself and begin asking him some questions. He looks at me questionably. "I promise that I'm not here to cause trouble. The people of my island along with myself have heard the legend of Tamatoa and we were just wanted to hear it through your point of view. I mean you're a legend after all. That seems to reel him in and he starts singing as Maui predicted he would.

Well, Tamatoa hasn't always been this glam

I was a drab little crab once
Now I know I can be happy as a clam
Because I'm beautiful, baby

Did your granny say listen to your heart
Be who you are on the inside
I need three words to tear her argument apart
Your granny lied!
I'd rather be...

Shiny
Like a treasure from a sunken pirate wreck
Scrub the deck and make it look...

Shiny
I will sparkle like a wealthy woman's neck
Just a sec!

Don't you know
Fish are dumb, dumb, dumb
They chase anything that glitters (beginners!)

Oh, and here they come, come, come
To the brightest thing that glitters
Mmm, fish dinners

I just love free food
And you look like seafood
(Like seafood)

Well, well, well
Little Maui's having trouble with his look
You little semi-demi-mini-god
Ouch! What a terrible performance
Get the hook (get it?)
You don't swing it like you used to, man

Yet I have to give you credit for my start
And your tattoos on the outside
For just like you I made myself a work of art
I'll never hide; I can't, I'm too...

Shiny
Watch me dazzle like a diamond in the rough
Strut my stuff; my stuff is so...

Shiny
Send your armies but they'll never be enough
My shell's too tough

Maui man, you could try, try, try
But you can't expect a demi-god
To beat a decapod (give it up)

You will die, die, die
Now it's time for me to take apart
Your aching heart

Far from the ones who abandoned you
Chasing the love of these humans
Who made you feel wanted
You tried to be tough
But your armour's just not hard enough

Maui
Now it's time to kick your...
Hiney
Ever seen someone so...

Shiny
Soak it in 'cause it's the last you'll ever see
C'est la vie mon ami
I'm so...

Shiny
Now I'll eat you, so prepare your final plea
Just for me
You'll never be quite as...
Shiny
You wish you were nice and...
Shiny

After the song is over, Maui flashes me a confident smirk with his hook in hand. We then run away from an angry Tamatoa. We make it back to the boat just in time and sail back out on to the open waters.
