Lana's Now A Month Old
Chapter 89
Maui's POV
Time skip... One month later...
Lana is a month old today. I know that may not seem like long, but it's a milestone both for her and us. This past month has flew by so fast. Before we know it, our baby girl is going to be a year old. I can't wait to dress up super goofy and have a little birthday celebration for her. I never got to celebrate my birthday as a child so I'm happy I can live the experience through my daughter.
Anyways, Moana and I decided to would be fun to introduce Lana to the ocean. The ocean happens to be fond of the both of us, so I bet it will be fond of Lana too. I sit down on the shore with Lana. The wave strength of the ocean is moderate today. The waves crash against the rocks, though not in a menacing way, but in a playful way. The ocean rises a bit, waving to the three of us. Moana and I wave back while Lana stares at it in awe. The ocean then pats Lana on the forehead, squirting a bit of water on her. Instead of crying, she bursts into a fit of giggles. I flash Moana a grin. "Who does this remind you of?" Moana smiles. "Her reaction was literally the same one I had as a child when I first encountered the ocean."
Moana joins me on the ground and I wrap an arm around her. "I bet she'll be asking us in a few years to teach her to be a master wayfinder like her mother and wanting to go on all sorts of adventures with us." Moana laughs. "I don't mind teaching her to wayfind in a few years, but until she's a teenager, I'm going to limit the amount of voyaging she does." "That's understandable love. Plus when she's older, she'll appreciate the sense of adventure more. I certainly know that from experience."
"Hey there ocean, it's your favorite demigod of the wind and sea, hero to all." If the ocean had eyes, I'm pretty sure it just rolled them. Ever since I became a changed man though, the ocean has learned to like me. "Do you like our daughter Lana?" The ocean nods eagerly and Moana and I smile. The ocean then puts a finger up, as if to say "One moment please." A moment later, a wooden object appears. When we take a closer look, we realize it's an oar, crafted by the ocean for Lana. Moana tears up instantly and hugs the ocean. "Thank you ocean. It's beautiful. I know Lana's going to love it, especially when she's older." I reach out to shake the ocean's hand of sorts, but the ocean pulls me in for a hug. "It really is lovely ocean. We'll make sure to store it in a safe place. When the time comes, we'll give it to her and teach her how to properly use it."
The ocean pats us all on the head one last time before slowly moving away from the shore. Lana then yawns and her eyes begin to flutter a bit, indicating she's ready to sleep. I help Moana up with a free arm before using both arms to hold Lana and carry her back home. Moana leans her head onto my shoulder. "I know I've probably said this before, but I love our beautiful family Maui." I bend down gently and peck her on the lips. "I love our beautiful family too Moana. It may be small, but it's a great one."
