My Protective Side

Chapter 10

  Maui's POV

    The next morning...

         Moana and I are about to take off to continue our voyage. She's currently untying the knots in the rope we used to tie the ship off when waves from an incoming ship splash Moana. She rolls her eyes but doesn't freak out like I figured she might. A skinny guy who looks to be 18 in mortal years eyes Moana like a piece of meat. Noticing him licking his lips while staring at Moana's boobs, anger begins to flow through my veins. I turn into my hawk form and fly over to where they are. I preach myself on the dock and listen carefully to what he's saying to her. 

         Moana's trying her best to calm but I can see she's about to freak out. She keeps telling him she has to go but he refuses to accept that. As soon as he grabs her wrist tight, I swoop down and claw his face out. He crushes and tries to attack me back, but chickens out when I shift back to my demigod form. The coward recognizes me instantly and panics. I lift him up by his throat. "I don't know who you think you are, but you just made a big mistake. You just tried to harass the woman I love. Do you know what happens to people who mess with the woman I love?" He shakes his no. "This." I use my hook and send him flying into the volcano across the way. His screams dies out as he gets farther away. 

         Moana looks at me in shock. "Maui, I can't believe you just did. I mean I knew you were powerful, but not that powerful. Now that the moment's over, it's finally sinking in what I just did. My hands begin to shake a bit and I try to hide my nerves. "I don't know what came over me. I hope I didn't scare you." She smiles. "You didn't scare me. In fact, I'm pretty impressed. That could come in handy when we get to Tahiti." I laugh. "Yeah it just might. For now, I'll try to keep it to a minimum. Are you ready to set sail?" She unties the last knot and nods. I grab a hold of her hand and together we head back onto our boat and head towards Tahiti. 

       An hour later...

       Moana comes over to me when there's a lull in wave action and sits down beside me. "I never knew you had a protective side to you Maui. It was kind of adorable to see." I blush. "Well I'm only protective for my girl." She purrs in my ear. "Say that again for me." "My girl." "I love the sound of that." I laugh. "Only if you call me your man." She puts out a hand for me to shake. "Deal."  I smile. "Then it's official. You're my girl and I'm your guy."
