The First Checkup

Chapter 71

Moana's POV

 Six days later... The first checkup... 

  Maui and I are in the doctor's hut for my first checkup. It's both exciting and nerve wracking. Today, we're just going over the basics of pregnancy and getting on track to sort of speak. Maui sits beside me, squeezing my hand as usual to help reassure and relax me. Dr. Raido comes in with a smile on his face. "Good morning guys. How are you?" I smile back. "We're good. How are you?" "I'm good thank you. Now this checkup, we're just going to check out the fetus on the ultrasound once again. In addition, we'll review the basics of pregnancy and get you set up on the proper vitamins and medications. Does that sound good?" I nod as he rubs that cool gel on my stomach once again and sets up the ultra sound machine.

   The machine takes a minute to start up, but when it does, I can see the inside of my stomach and the same dot (the fetus) appearing slightly bigger. I smile when I see the fetus moving about. "Moana, Maui, your baby is beginning to grow and appears to be healthy so far, which is excellent news." Maui and I look at each other with a fond smile. "Now Moana, you will have two sets of vitamins to take daily. One for nutrients and the other for iron intake. Everyone needs to have a little bit of iron and from the tests I ran last week, they showed you haven't had iron intake period. Iron intake helps a lot with strength and energy. As for medications, you'll have a few to take. Though, with most of the medications, you only have to take them once or twice a week. The medications include tylenol for headaches and stomach pains, mylicon for gas, and mylanta for heart burn." "Is that all Dr. Raido?" He checks over the list. "I believe so for now. You may have to take more down the line, but we'll worry about that then. Do you have any other questions?"

     Maui steps forward, his face red as a tomato. "I have one actually on behalf of both Moana and I. It's going to be a weird one." He laughs. "I'm a doctor Maui. I see and hear weird on a daily basis. It's probably nothing I haven't heard before. Enlighten me." Maui stares at me rather than looking at Dr. Raido. "Are Moana and I still able to have sex?" My eyes bug out of my head and I swat Maui on the arm. Dr. Raido laughs once again. "Yes Maui, you and Moana can still have sex. In fact, during the later part of the pregnancy,  it's actually good to have sex. It's one of the best ways to enable an on time pregnancy. Maui grins goofily. "That's just wonderful news." He gets up to shake his hand. "Thank you doc. We'll see you again next week." I do the same. Then, Maui and I head back home for the afternoon.
