Chapter 16

Maui's POV

 2 days later...

    Moana and I just finished her final lesson, in which she passed with flying colors. I'm truly amazed at how fast she was able to gain control of her powers. It took me two weeks to master it all while for her it only took three days. Her and I are going to make a really good team. We can use our powers for good and help those in need. I know Moana will agree to doing so because she has a heart of gold.

      With that being set aside, Moana is in good health now so we can finally head back to her village. It'll take approximately four days to get there, which is good because I need time to prepare myself. I know it sounds weird, but I'm going to plan out my every word that I'm going to say to her parents. I can't mess this up. I need to do right by Moana and right by them. Moana and I make sure to thank Te Fiti and say our goodbyes before we set out. If it wasn't for her, Moana would be dead and I'd be dead inside.

    20 minutes later...

      We're back on the ocean. Just barely, but nonetheless it's a start. With every passing second, I can see Moana getting more excited and feel myself getting more nervous. She pats me on the shoulder and I tense up. "Maui, why are you getting so nervous? It's going to be fine. They'll love you once they get to know you." I sigh. "I'm sure they're wonderful people because you're a wonderful person, but I'm worried they'll judge me for my past rather than my recent positive actions and changes." She squeezes my hand. "I will do everything in my power to make sure that that doesn't happen." I nod and squeeze her hand back.

      Moana's POV

      I thought Maui was nervous pacing back and forth in front of me the other day, but he's even more of a nervous wreck now. I know he's trying to toughen up so I don't get worried so much. While I appreciate it, I would much rather have him open up and express his emotions any day like he has been lately. When I first met Maui, he refused to tell me anything other than how much of a spoiled princess I was. It's amazing how much he's changed. He's come so far and I'm so proud of him. In fact, I'm going to tell him just that.

       Maui's fiddling with the sails to make sure they aren't too lose. I approach him once again and say what's on my mind. "Maui, I'm not going to keep on about this, but I just wanted to say I'm so proud of you." His eyes light up and his smile goes wide. I can tell from the look on his face that nobody's ever told him that before, which makes me sad. He deserves to be told that and so much more. He pulls me forward and kisses me passionately. "Thank you Moana. Really from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Also, thank you for loving me." I kiss him back. "It's my honor and pleasure to love you Maui."
