A Family Day On The Nearby Island
Chapter 97
Maui's POV
The next day...
Lana, Moana, and I have everything we need for our day on the island. Food, spare change of clothes, bathing suits, money, and a few other things. Tala waves goodbye to us on the shore. I shout "We'll be back tonight" and she flashes two thumbs up at us. I don't want Lana on the ocean at night. She's not old enough to be out late and it wouldn't entirely be safe. A lot of strange creatures come out to play at night. For example, that stupid crab Tamatoa crawls the ocean floor every night looking for shiny things.
The nearby island across the way is only a half an hour away thankfully. Lana's the most excited of us all. She's jumping up and down, rocking the boat in the process. "I'm so excited to see the island dad! Thank you for wanting to take me!" I bend down and cup Lana's chip. "You're very welcome princess. You're so precious I'd keep you in my pocket if I could." Lana giggles and wraps her arms around me, pulling me in for a hug, which I gladly return. Moana playfully pouts. "I thought I was your princess Maui." I laugh and make my way over to Moana, wrapping an arm around her. "You Moana aren't my princess, you're my queen." She smiles. "I like that even better." I peck her on the lips. "As you should my love. It certainly suits you."
Half an hour later...
We arrive at the island. I believe it's Taranaki, though I'm not entirely sure. We dock the ship and head onto the island. Moana and I jog behind Lana as she runs at an extremely fast pace. We need to make sure she stays within our plane of view as all times. As much as we love Lana and her spirit, she sometimes gets side tracked and ends up places where she shouldn't be. When Lana starts to run too far, I shift into my hawk form to catch her and shift back into my normal form before she notices anything. "So Lana, what would you like to do first?" "Eat." Moana and I laugh. She really is a mini version of Moana and I. "Sounds like a plan."
We walk a bit further and arrive at a picnic area. What better place to have a picnic than an official picnic area? Moana unloads the basket of sandwiches, chips, juice, and water. Lana goes for the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and juice while Moana and I go for the Italian subs, chips, and water. We dig in and instant satisfaction rises among us.
45 minutes later...
We then go into the island's village and do a little bit of shopping. They have all sorts of cool stores, which have everything from clothes to books. We browse for about an hour. In our browsing session, I come out with two books, Moana comes out with a dress and three books, and Lana comes out with two dolls and several other toys. Good god do we spoil each other in this family.
The rest of the day consists of swimming and eating delicious ice cream before we head back home with both sadness and joy. Day's like this make life worth living. I really wish we could do this more often.
Hoped that you guys liked this chapter! By the way, I'm leaving for L.A. tomorrow night/early Wednesday morning around 3 am so my updates may be staggered for the next week or so. Sorry about that, but in all fairness, I haven't had a vacation in ages. :) -Mary
