The Awaited Duet
Chapter 66
Maui's POV
The next day...
It's Moana and I's last day of our honeymoon and I want to make sure it goes well. I'm also going to try not to freak out every time she throws up. If she has to throw up, I'll let her and simply comfort her until I know she's okay. I'm just relieved that it isn't the flu or anything like that. If it was, she'd be in much worse condition than she is now. So I decided on a few easy but fun things we can do today. I'm starting it off with breakfast in bed for Moana. I ordered room service for breakfast. She's still asleep. I don't want to wake her up. She needs all of the sleep she can get.
An hour later...
Moana's eyes begin to flutter open. I go over to the bed and peck her on the lips. "Good morning babygirl." She blushes and smiles. "Good morning." "How'd you sleep?" "I slept okay. How'd you sleep?" "I slept fine" I say with a smile on my face. The truth is I slept horribly last night, but I don't want to stress out Moana. "I ordered you breakfast. I didn't know what you wanted so I got one of everything. If there's anything you don't want, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands." She kisses me on the cheek, causing me to blush. Heck almost anything she does causes me to blush and smile like a dork. "Thank you Maui. This was really sweet." I watch her go for iced tea, bagels, cereal, and danishes. I take the apple juice, donuts, bacon, and eggs. I'm honestly glad she took some foods that are easy on the stomach. She'll be less likely to throw up eating what she is than eating what I'm eating.
20 minutes later...
We've finished with breakfast and now Moana's looking at me with curiousity. "So now what?" Wanting Moana to be surprised, I take her by the hand and lead her down to a dock loaded with canoes. Moana grins at me when she realizes we're going out for a ride. "Now you're talking Maui. I haven't been canoeing in ages." I smile. "Well now's your chance. I was thinking we could simply row to a nice spot, dock, and then hammock." I pull out a hammock that I brought from home. "Sounds perfect Maui."
40 minutes later...
I find the exact spot I was looking for. The private one hidden amongst the trees and overlooking the mountains. I row us to the shore and tie up the canoe with a rope. I help Moana off of the canoe. Moana points to a set of trees that are just the right size and distance from one another and I tie the hammock up to them. Moana sets down first and I join her. "This was a great idea Maui. I've had a blast with you on this honeymoon, but we haven't had much time to relax. I'm glad we're doing that today." I kiss her forehead. "Me too love."
We sit in silence for a few minutes. Not the bad kind, but rather the peaceful and reassuring kind. An idea pops into my head. I've been promising Moana for awhile now that I'd sing a duet with her and I'm feeling musical again. "Hey Moana?" She raises an eyebrow. "Yes Maui?" I look at the ground sheepishly. "This is going to sound dorky, but would you like to finally sing that duet?" She jumps up and down, shaking the hammock. "YES, YES, YES, I'D LOVE TO MAUI!" I smile at her adorable reaction. Maui, do you know How Deep Is Your Love, the Michael Buble and Kelly Rowland version?" I smile. "I do actually. I've heard it a few times. It's a nice song." "Can we do that?" "We sure can." Moana pulls out her ipod, which has the karaoke track on it. She presses play and the song begins.
Moana: I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I wanna feel you in my arms again
Maui: And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love
Then you softly leave
Both: And it's me you need to show
Moana: How deep is your love?
Maui: How deep is your love?
Both: I really meant to learn
Cos we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they
All should let us be.
Maui: I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
Moana: You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You're my savior when I fall
Both: And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside
That I really doAnd it's me you need to show
Maui: How deep is your love? How deep is your love?
Both: I really meant to learn
Cos we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when theyAll should let us be.
We may have messed up a few of the lyrics and some of them repeat a few times. Overall we manage to get most of it right. Moana and I both blush in unison. "I really enjoyed that Maui." "Me too Moana." In that moment, I pull her in for a kiss. A gentle kiss, but a deep and passionate one as well.
