Getting A Head Start
Chapter 75
Gramma Tala's POV
The next day...
Moana and Maui decided to spend the day in the village so I have some time to get a few things around the house. By around the house, I mean their house. I waited until they were out of view before I pulled out the spare key under the mat and let myself in, carrying several materials in tow. These materials include paint, pictures, a crib, and a few toys. I wanted to get a start on the nursery. The baby will be here before we know it. Half of the pregnancy has gone by. I don't know where the time is going. Therefore, it's better to do sooner rather than later.
For paint, I chose a shade of ocean blue. I have a feeling that one day, my great granddaughter is going have the heart of a voyager and will practically live on the ocean, so it's only suiting. I begin painting the walls. I make sure to use gentle strokes. I plan on going over the paint again once I finish applying the first round. I smile to myself. This nursery is going to look amazing once it's done.
6 hours later....
Moana and Maui come through the door. I tense up a bit. I'm not sure how they're going to react to me starting on the nursery so soon. I managed to finish double coating the walls with paint along with getting a few pictures up and the crib inside. They come into the nursery. I take a deep breath and prepare myself mentally for their reaction. They look at it and then me in awe. Moana's the first one to speak. "Gramma? You really did this all by yourself?" I nod hesitantly. "It's absolutely lovely. If we had known you were going to start on the nursery today, we could have helped paint and decorate." I smile. "I'm glad you two like it. I was worried you two were going to be mad at me for starting on it." Maui puts a hand on my shoulder. "I don't think it's possible to be mad at you for anything Tala. Say how about the three of us work on it tomorrow?" "That sounds great." Moana wags a finger at me. "That means you have to stop for the rest of the day. You've been working so hard all day Gramma. You deserve to relax for the evening."
I go over to the kitchen table and sit. "Yeah, I think you're right. Anyways is anyone hungry? I know I am." Moana smiles. "Maui and I could go for some food too. What are you feeling Gramma? We'll let you pick out the meal and Maui will whip it up. Isn't that right Maui?" He grins. "That's right." I take a moment to think before my cravings get the best of me and I say "Spaghetti and Meatballs." Moana sits down next to me and leans her head on my shoulder. "Excellent choice Gramma."
15 minutes later...
Maui serves us our Spaghetti and Meatballs on a silver platter, literally. I take the first bite of mine and moan with delight. "Maui, I never knew you such a good cook. I literally feel like I dead and went to food heaven." He bows and sings "You're Welcome." Moana gives him a fake dirty look but giggles. I guess they have some kind of inside joke that involves that phrase. Maybe they'll let me on it sometime. For now, I'm just enjoying digesting this amazing food.
