Charlie's POV
That's it. I'm going to kill him. Damn the police. Damn jail. I don't care about those things. All I care about is Wes feeling the pain he caused Haley for so long. Too long. And now he gets to pay for what he's done.
"Don't try to stop me. Stay here." I harshly instructed Haley. She didn't need to see what was going to happen. She would be frightened. I know it.
Haley stayed silent looking at me with wide eyes. I wanted to comfort her and tell her everything would be alright but I couldn't. I had one goal in mind and that was to bash Wes' face into a damn brick wall. I made my way down the stairs, away from Haley before grabbing my keys and going out the door, to my car. I didn't know where he was but I intended on finding him.
Haley's POV
"Oh god. Oh god. Oh god." I continued to repeat, my voice breaking, my fingers desperately running through my hair. "What did I just do?" I said aloud even though I was the only one in the house.
I knew Charlie to well. I knew exactly what he was going to do. The thought alone made me shiver but the mental image made me shake. What if someone calls the cops? What if Charlie goes to jail? He's 18 so there's no juvi. He'd be going straight to jail. How would his mother react? After all she's been through and then having to hear that her son was arrested? I can't even begin to process it. What will that mean for us? I won't have a relationship where I come to visit him behind bars everyday. I just can't do that. I won't do that. So, I hope for his sake that he controls himself. He has to. Charlie wouldn't go as far as actually. . . killing Wes, would he? The breath feels as if its been knocked out of me and the tears begin to fall.
"Oh my god." I muttered in between breaths.
What am I supposed to do? I rode here with him in his car, the car I assume he left in. I'm not going to steal one of the other cars parked in the driveway. I'm not walking back to my house because who knows how far away that is? I don't even know where Charlie was going so what other option do I have? Then it hit me. I knew who I had to call.
After dialing the number I never thought I'd use again, I held my phone up to my ear awaiting the voice to be heard on the other line. It kept ringing and ringing and I started to lose hope.
"C'mon c'mon." I said to myself but stopped once I heard a "hello" on the other end.
"Jo?"
"Yeah, who's this?" My once good friend replied back to me.
"It's Haley."
A large intake of breath was heard on the other end and then silence. "Oh. Hey Hales. What's up?" She said. And even though it was over the phone I knew her fingers were dwindling, a habit we used to call the "awkward action."
"I need your help."
"Ok? What kind of help?" She sounded unsure. Of course she did. Not many would be expecting a call like this from an old friend.
"Are you still friends with that whole group? Like the cheerleaders and athletes?"
She sighed, "Yeah. Why?"
"Do you know if there's any parties or anything major happening today?" I asked, eager to get an answer.
"Yeah, actually. I'm headed down to a bonfire by the lake."
I bit my lip before saying the next words, "Do you know if Wes will be there?"
"Haley, if this is about him, you should know he's with someone else."
I quickly stopped her. "No, no, I don't care about that. I'm with someone else but you need to tell me if he will be there."
"Yeah. Wes is the one that organized it all." She told me and I was starting to be grateful that I called her.
