Haley's POV
"Haley? Mom left a message saying she will be home by 6." My brother's voice was heard through my bedroom door.
"Fine." I simply replied, still annoyed at how he treated Charlie earlier today.
A long sigh was heard on the other side of the door as the footsteps trailed along down the hall after it.
I had been thinking, ever since my brother and I last talked, about how to interpret this new situation with Charlie. From what my brother was saying, he hasn't been completely honest with me. I didn't know what to do or think at this point. Every possible explanation for him not being honest with me, made me stress even more over the subject. It shouldn't be this aggravating but it is for some reason. Lying has always been a top pet peeve of mine. My mistakes in the past playing a big role in why that's at the top.

Charlie's POV
"Charlie!! Get down here now!!"
My head dropped as I pulled myself out of bed.
"What?" I asked in an annoyed tone.
"What is this?" My step dad waved my report card in front of my face.
"It's a report card, Mark. They give that to us nowadays so we can see our grades. " I said sarcastically. "Oh, did they not have them in the dinosaur ages?"
"How dare you speak to me like that! I am your guardian and you will respect me!"
"No one says I have to." I retorted, attempting to walk away from him but stopped when he pushed my report card to my chest.
"Well explain to me why you have 2 B's then."
I snatched the card from my step father's hand, my eyes scanning over my grades. "Son of a bitch." I muttered under my breath. "They were supposed to be A's."
"Oh? And why aren't they?"
"One, she told me I didn't turn in an assignment when I did but she never gave me the full points. Instead she gave me an 80 because I tried to tell her I had turned it in on time but she misplaced it and blamed me for it! And then he just hates hockey and me since I'm the captain. He gave all the hokcey players a B." I argued.
"Do you want to get into college?"
"Yes." I said through gritted teeth.
"Well since you had to make up for your first two years of high school, I suggest you talk to these teachers about pulling those grades up to an A. Believe me it'll be hard enough getting in after seeing freshman and sophomore year."
"FIne." I muttered, my fists balling at my sides. "I'll talk to them tomorrow." I said, mentally calming myself down.
"Good. Now get upstairs and do your homework."
I rolled my eyes but obeyed my step dad for once. I've had enough arguements for one day.

Haley's POV
"Haley, mom's home!" Tom called up to me.
"Great." I said to myself as I got up from my bed and walked downstairs.
"Hi, mom."
"Haley! Why didn't you call to tell me Tom was back in town? I would've gotten home sooner." She hugged my brother in a tight embrace.
"It's great to see you too, mom. You look 10 years younger." My brother added.
Kiss ass.
"Oh, Tom stop it. Why don't we have a nice family dinner? Hmm?"
