Haley's POV

"I call the shots remember, princess?"

I shook my head giving Wes a disgusted expression as he walked to the counter of the coffee shop to order his drink. With that, I made a quick departure to head home. All I wanted to do was go to sleep and dream about something other than my life at this point.

*******

Once I arrived home and transferred all the groceries from my car to the kitchen, my phone began to vibrate uncontrollably in my pocket. I decided to ignore it and set it on the couch so I could put away all the food into it's correct locations. I jumped slightly as I heard foosteps come into the kitchen but luckily as I turned I saw Tom there, most likely half asleep.

"You scared me for a second there." I told him as he covered his mouth with his hand to let out a long yawn.

"Sorry. I just heard the door open and wanted to make sure you got back alright." He said sleepily.

"Thanks. Yeah, everything was fine. I just stopped to grab a coffee to wake me up on my drive back."

Tom nodded as I continued to organize the various boxes and cans in the cupboard.

"Need any help?" Tom asked.

"No, I've got it but thanks for the offer."

"No problem. And you know I don't like fighting with you, right? It's just something siblings do. We've both made our mistakes but mom doesn't need that piled onto her right now. So, why don't we agree to solve our problems amongst ourselves instead of dragging mom into it?"

"Sounds good to me."

"Good. So you said you were going to tell me what you were talking with mom about." Tom said, pulling out one of the chairs from under the table to sit on. I did the same sitting across from him.

"It's about dad."

"What about him?" Tom awaited my answer, leaning forward so his elbows were resting on his knees.

"It hasn't been so good where he is. It's been dangerous. The enemies are getting bolder and setting up new plans of attack and dad's stuck in the middle. Mom told me she's more worried than usual. She said she think something bad is going to happen."

Tom listenening to my every word, nodding as I finished.

"I don't know what to do."

"There's nothing we can do. We just have to pray for the best at this point. It'll be ok. C'mon you look tired. Why don't you go upstairs? I'll finish stuff down here."

I nodded, pushing the kitchen chair back into its place before saying goodnight and heading up to my bedroom. Hopefully, my dreams would be better than how I was feeling right now.

The school day was coming to a close and not once had I seen Charlie. Where was he? Was it because of the whole thing with my brother yesterday? I pulled out my phone to send a text message to him. But then I remembered I had forgot to turn it on after I switched it off yesterday. It took about a minute to fully turn on and once it did, the little notification icons started to pop up. As I scanned over my messages I noticed one from Charlie. It came yesterday around 11:30. About the time I was getting home from the coffee shop.

From Charlie:

I can see you want to move on. I'm sure you and Wes will be very happy together.

My eyebrows knitted together in confusion. What the hell was he talking about? What did that mean? Why would he think I wanted to be with Wes? We didn't break up yesterday. So why would he send this text?
