Charlie's POV

Damn, I really hope Haley doesn't think this is too much. All I want to do is show her that I can be a good, almost normal boyfriend. That we can go out and have a good time without arguing or thinking of everyone else that have gotten in our way.

My god, she looks so beautiful sitting across from me. Her eyes, her smile, everything seemed to be bright and happy. I loved seeing that in her. It made me happy just to see her like that. That's all I've ever wanted for her. Happiness.

Haley's POV

"Hello, my name's Justin. I'll be your server for the evening. Can I start you off with a bottle of wine or . . ."

I was about to stop the waiter before he could say anything else but paused myself as Charlie held up his hand.

"No, wine. I'll just take a coke." Charlie looked to me as I nodded to say the same as him.

"Alright, please take a look at our menu and I'll be back as soon as I've got your drinks." With that, our waiter left us to look over the choices.

But my eyes had traveled elsewhere. I hadn't really taken the chance to really admire Charlie. The white button up shirt along with those black slacks really looked nice on him. I had never really seen him dress up like this so it was a pleasant change from sweaty hockey gear and casual attire.

"I can feel your stare." Charlie called me out not even bothering to look up from his menu.

"No, you can't." I quietly giggled, pulling the menu up in front of my face to hide the blush that crept onto my cheeks.

"What?" Charlie paused, his finger beginning to pick at his clothes. "Do I look that bad?"

I quickly shook my head, "No, no. You look nice." I smiled, reaching my hand across the table to lay it on top of his.

His thumb moved to the back of my hand to lightly rub the skin. The gesture was soothing and I soon wished the waiter hadn't approached to ruin the moment.

"Here we are." Justin laid our drinks along with a basket of bread in front of us. Charlie and I had already pulled back as we glanced at each other from our separate sides of the table. "Now are you ready to order?"

I really didn't expect the waiter to be back so soon. I hadn't even gotten to look over the many choices that were on the menu.

Charlie ordered his food and then the waiter gestured to me. "And for you, miss?" He sweetly smiled awaiting my answer.

"Um, I'll just take the spaghetti." My eyes landed on the first option and that's what I said.

"Very good. I'll be back with your food as soon as it's ready." Again, Justin left our table now taking our menus with him.

I reached for my drink, taking a small sip through the straw as my eyes wandered around the restaurant. The light was dim and the atmosphere gave off a warm and welcoming feel. I liked it.

Charlie's eyes remained on me as I put my drink down to turn in my seat, allowing myself further view of the place.

"What?" I asked, smiling as Charlie did the same.

"Nothing." He shook his head, resting his elbows on the table.

"C'mon, Charlie, why're you staring at me like that?" I tilted my head to the side as he laughed to himself.

"You're just beautiful."

I looked down at my hands in my lap to hide the blush that crept onto my cheeks and the idiotic smile I probably had on my lips.
