Haley's POV
"Miss? Sir?" My eyes fluttered open as a voice was heard above me. The thumping of the boy's heart under me made me jump slightly but I calmed as soon as I saw Charlie. I looked around, slightly confused. My eyes peered up to the woman who was poking us.
We were still in the coffee shop.
"Yes?" I asked, sleep laced through my voice.
"You fell asleep here last night and we let you sleep but I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave now."
"Charlie." I whispered.
"Mhm." He mumbled.
"You have to get up. We both fell asleep in the coffee shop yesterday." I bumped him slightly, sitting up.
His eyes immediately shot open as they were met with the two worker's eyes. "Oh. Um, sorry about that."
"It's no trouble sir but you do need to leave."
"Oh, yeah definitely. We'll be on our way."
We quickly shuffled out of the coffee shop as we both looked at each other before bursting into a fit of laughter.
"Oh my god. I can't believe we fell asleep there!" I groaned, leaning against my car.
"I know. Must've been boring stuff that we were talking about." Charlie chuckled.
"I'm glad we're going to try to make this work." I said, smiling up at him.
"Me too."
"Oh my god. Is that the time?" My eyes widened as I looked at my phone screen.
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah, why?"
"It's a school day. We have graduation practice and everything."
"So what?"
"So, we need to get there right now." I began to panic.
"Hey, hey, look at me." Charlie gripped my arms. "Just calm down for a second."
"No, Charlie, we need to go."
"Just go in late. It'll be fine." He soothed.
"Okay, okay." I relaxed a little. "But we still have to go."
"I know, I know. At least go home to change. I'll see you at school, okay?" He raised an eyebrow, placing a kiss on my cheek.
I nodded, getting into my car.

As I walked through the doorway of my house, I noticed a note on the table in the living room.
I furrowed my eyebrows and walked to read it.
"What's this?" I said to myself out loud.
"A note for me?"
I read it in my head.
Dear Haley,
I'm so sorry to do this to you but something came up and I had to visit some distant relatives. I should only be gone around 2 or 3 days. I know you have graduation things this week so I didn't want to take you away from that. Please please be be careful while I'm gone. I'll call every night. I love you.
Love,
Mom
"She just left? Like that? To visit distant relatives?"
Nothing was adding up. It didn't make any sense to me. Why wouldn't she take me with her, despite the graduation practices and such. I set the note back down on the table, heading upstairs to go and get ready.
*****
"So she just left?" Charlie asked as I showed him the note.
"Yeah. Distant relatives that I apparently don't know."
"So that means you'll be on your own for a couple of days?"
"Yeah, guess so."
"You sure you'll be okay?"
"I'll be fine Charlie. I'm a big girl." I reassured him.
He shook his head. "You could stay with me."
My jaw dropped slightly.
"No, Charlie, really it's fine."
"Why not?"
"Well one, if my mom would find out she'd kill me! And I'm sure your parents wouldn't be so fond of it. Two, we just started out with this whole couple thing. We might want to take it slow."
"Then I'll come to visit you every night."
I shook my head. "I promise, I'll be ok."
"Well what about just tonight then? I could come over, we could have a movie night?"
"Do I have a choice?" I joked but Charlie didn't seem to get it.
"Haley."
"I'm just joking. I'd love that."
"Good. I gotta get to class, I'll see you later."
I rolled my eyes at him as he placed a kiss on my cheek.
*********
Last class of the day, then graduation practice. I continued to repeat to myself and finally my wish was granted. The clock turned as my teacher dismissed us. I headed to my last class of the day, telling myself just get through this one and then it's just graduation practice. Easy stuff. Like know in where to walk and when to do it.
As my last teacher dismissed us, we all headed to the gym to practice everything. I searched the massive crowd of students to spot Charlie standing towards one of the corners. I walked over to him, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I don't get why this is such a big deal. All it is is walking on stage when your name is called." I told him.
"Exactly, but apparently some kids don't understand that." We laughed as a kid named Anthony started asking one of the teachers when to walk on stage.
"C'mon sit by me."
"It's alphabetical, remember?" I raised my eyebrows at him. "I'll see you later." I said, placing a kiss to his lips before finding my seat.
