Alyssa hastily closed her laptop and stopped doing her report and rushed to get her car keys and went outside her condo.
She made a one-hour drive before arriving at Mika's place. Alyssa has spare keys so she just went in immediately.
She found Mika in a fetal position on her bed while crying.
"Hey, what happened?" Alyssa soothed Mika's back.
Mika turned around and hugged Alyssa like a kid who got lost and just found her mom.
"He cheated on me." Mika said in between sobs.
Alyssa remained silent as she hugged Mika tightly.
It hurts her more to see Mika hurting. She knew something was wrong the moment she read her text message.
She didn't hesitate on going and help her bestfriend.
How could a guy hurt someone like Mika?
For Alyssa, she's close to being perfect.
"Sabi ko sa'yo ako na lang eh." Alyssa whispered.
Alyssa confessed her feelings to her long-time bestfriend years ago, but she was rejected.
Mika break away from their hug and pushed Alyssa lightly on the shoulders.
"Baliw! Alam mo namang bestfriend lang ang turing ko sa'yo, di'ba?" Mika wiped her tears.
"I was kidding! C'mon, Miks. Matagal na akong naka move on sa iyo 'no." Alyssa laughed bitterly.
It was a lie.
"Talaga? Hindi mo na ako mahal?" Mika asked.
"Mahal pa rin kita." Alyssa said as she looked at Mika sincerely.
Mika was taken aback by Alyssa's seriousness in her words.
"...bilang bestfriend syempre." Alyssa added as she stood up.
"Where are you going?" Mika sounded like a kid.
"Kukuha lang ako ng tubig for you." Alyssa said without looking back.
She went in the kitchen as she wiped the tears that were falling non-stop since she left the room.
"Be her bestfriend, Alyssa. Just a bestfriend, stupid." she whispered.
Alyssa took a glass of water as she composed herself before going back in Mika's room.
When she went back and gave a glass of water to Mika, she ushered her to sleep.
"Tabihan mo ako." Mika whispered.
Alyssa nodded as she lay down beside Mika. The latter immediately wrapped her arm around Alyssa as she rest her head on the crook of her neck.
"Thank you for being here." Mika said sleepily.
"I love you." Alyssa whispered when she was sure Mika was sleeping.
She kissed Mika's forehead and went off to sleep.
