Thaddeus Azarov opened the door of the apartment he shared with his younger brother.
"I'm home," he said in Russian, putting grocery bags onto the kitchen counter.
Thaddeus's younger brother, Isaac, was at the counter in an instant. He was a short, scrawny young boy with pale skin, black hair, and striking, slightly angled blue eyes.
Thaddeus looked pretty similar, and if the two boys had been the same age, they probably would've looked a whole lot like twins.
"Did you get it?" Isaac asked, voice brimming with anticipation.
"Yep," Thaddeus answered. "It's in the car, go get it."
The older brother watched as Isaac dashed out of the room. The door clicked shut, and Thaddeus started to unload the groceries.
It wasn't long before the door burst open again. Isaac re-entered the room, cradling a box in his arms. "Can we set it up now?"
"Gimme a sec," Thaddeus replied, putting an assortment of food boxes into one of the kitchen cabinets. "You've waited this long, you can wait a few more seconds."
"Come on!" Isaac was trembling with excitement.
"Fine," Thaddeus grinned and rolled his eyes, leaving the cabinet behind. "Let's go."
The two boys headed into the office that was now more like a computer lab. Isaac set the box down on an empty desk, and Thaddeus began to go about the business of opening it. Once the box was opened and disposed of, in its place stood a robust-looking PC. Any untrained eye would've classed it as a fossil, but Thaddeus and Isaac saw something much, much different. They saw the prime jewel of their computer network.
Thaddeus stepped back to get a good look at the thing. Other computers clicked and chirped all around, their screens displaying packet sniffers and command windows and the like.
"Alright," Thaddeus said. "Let's get this bugger set up, eh?"
