Pyroclast's POV
"We have no fast traveling abilities like Maia, Cyclone, and Feliz," I remarked.
"We need to track Chaot down by foot, or we simply stay here."
Riverflow shook his head.
"Maia told us to stay here while she finds Chaot, but I want to find her as well. To think, there's no point to staying. We need to get moving, or we will die..."
I nodded.
"Let's just hope that we'll all be okay, Eon's okay, Maia's okay, and Feliz as well. We can't afford any of their deaths, or ours. All we could afford is Chaot's life."
Spotlight stepped forward, a determined look in his eyes.
"Then let's go. It'll be a matter of time before this city's brought down to ashes-"
SWISH!
A portal opened up in front of us, and out came Feliz, who seemed to be carrying something. I gasped out of shock, noticing that she was carrying Eon. She looked...
I gulped.
Lifeless...
"EON!" I shrieked.
I rushed forward and knelt down next to Feliz, who was panting like there was no tomorrow.
"She... I... I placed her... on... I placed her on a building... which collapsed. She was sliding down... and I was brought there at the wrong time. She's alive... but I do not know for how long..."
I took a good look at Feliz's eyes, which were glistening. She looked as if she had lost one of her own children...
Why do I feel like that's precisely the case?
"Please stay here and take care of her," Blackout insisted.
I looked at her, conveying the message of What are you saying!? Your friend could die!
Blackout sighed.
"Please, Feliz... save her. We can find Chaot and defeat her, but please stay and help Eon, okay?"
Feliz nodded slowly.
"Okay, but..."
Her expression kept shifting, as though she were fighting against despair, or something to say.
"You guys just go and kill Chaot. If Eon's dead by the time you come back, I'll... I don't know... just go. P-please."
All the pain I was witnessing, the pain I knew would happen... it was just too much.
I hoped that maybe, just maybe, we could make it out of this hell on Earth.
But the chances of that happening were slim...
Maia's POV
I slashed through the air, dodging a few projectiles from the monsters. My eyebrows knit together, and I cut through the army. I felt them disintegrating at the mere touch of my wings, specks of dust flying past my clothes. Still, I tried to find Chaot.
That madwoman could be anywhere.
Finally, I was done with the horde, giving me a sudden sense of satisfaction. I looked down at the ground, seeing the many smoking and fallen buildings.
All this at the cost of some superpowers...
Chaot was so selfish.
Would she really go this far to acquire the powers?
