Maia's POV

After a few hours of going through portals and searching for Chaot, I finally found her.

She was silently standing in a burning field within a ball of her own energy, her back facing me.

"What are you doing, Maia? Just leave. I know you want to. I know you want to end your misery on this barren land," Chaot spoke to me, as if she knew I was there all along.

"Look at what you've done. Don't you see? I could have created a paradise, but YOU took my chance away."

I stayed silent.

"You absorbed every other soul here. And what did you do? Destroy this world? Is that really all you could have done?"

I did not say a word, thinking about that question Chaot asked.

Was it really the first thing I'd thought of doing the moment I let their souls into my body?

It was, Maia. You know that wasn't the best thing.

"If so, then you are no better than me. I still remember what you did a few years ago."

I spoke in my head.

Ready?

"We are, Maia."

I finally spoke up to Chaot.

"...Chaot. What if YOU had the power I have?"

Chaot did not say anything.

"Cut it out, Maia. I was meant to be soulless, and I would always be. It is in my nature, after all, so stop it."

"Then why don't you take their souls? That is what you want, no?"

"I told you to scram, Maia! Get out!"

"Why not take them? I know you want to. You'd been empty for so long, right?"

"You know nothing."

"Maybe I do. Go ahead, Chaot."

"If you so insist!"

Chaot threw her hands out, and I suddenly saw something glowing from my body. The glow was so harsh I had to shut my eyes. Even then, I could still see the harsh light.

"YOUR SOULS ARE MINE!!!"

The moment the light cleared, I was surprised by what I saw.

Standing in Chaot's place was a creature.

They had a bright purple flaming body. Green and purple crystals jutted out of their shoulders. They wore a green sweater and denim pants. They were barefoot. Their back was turned to me.

"Finally..." a girl's voice said, presumably from the creature.

"I hated being stuck in that body..." she whispered.

She turned to me.

She had purple eyes, and emerging from her eyes were dark green markings that stretched to her temples and other markings that stopped right below her eyes.

"Howdy! It's me, your old friend..."

She suddenly changed form.

"Mikaela..."

It's the end...

The burning wasteland we were once standing on had been replaced by something like a pocket dimension, with rainbows dancing on its walls.
