Maia's POV

"Huh? What are you doing...?"

Our surroundings suddenly glowed in a blinding light, then it suddenly darkened, to the point that I couldn't see anything.

Then the scene started changing in front of me.

It was a patch of purple crystals illuminated by something from above. When I looked up, I realized it was situated under a portal, similar to the sort Feliz used.

On the patch of crystals, I saw one that was different from the rest.

That crystal was crimson. It was floating and enveloped in a cloud of the same color.

As I looked more carefully, I could discern a face. I also noticed the cloud looked vaguely humanoid.

I heard the crystal speak.

"Why am I stuck in this abandoned place? Why am I here all alone?"

I heard it speak more.

"I just want to be with my best friend again."

I heard more words.

"They may not approve of how I'm willing to do this, but I will not be stopped. It's in my nature."

I would have stopped it right then and there, but I was stuck in place, as though I were watching a movie.

My point of view started ascending, going through the portal. Soon, I was looking down on Earth from the sky.

Suddenly, a crimson mist erupted from a hole in a mountain, where I believed the portal was.

Perhaps, this was what Blackout and Forestra had told us about before we ran away from home?

That mist went all over the Earth, though I didn't know why.

After a while, I started seeing specks of white in the mist, which seemed to return to the portal.

But why?

Right after that, I saw some mist exit the portal. It collected someplace near it, and it started taking on a humanoid form.

As I scrutinized the being, I could make out a crimson cloak, with the hood up. My point of view shifted to their front, and I saw glowing red eyes and a sharp-toothed smile underneath the hood.

"Their souls will soon be mine. I'll be able to feel again. I'll get to play with her again."

Shit! I didn't know it was THAT bad!

The scene faded, and I was back in the pocket dimension, along with Mikaela, whose face was showing a look of sadness.

Despite that expression, she fired a dense barrage of energy at me. I expected to be hit, but I was suddenly not on where I used to stand. Instead, I saw portals there, the ones Mae and Feliz would use. I also saw purple clocks around me, and that's when I knew Eon pulled me out of the barrage while time was stopped.

Now that I thought about it, this was quite possibly the first time she did anything with her powers other than receiving visions.

"Beware of the girl who has no soul... was what I would have told you. But somehow, I know you know what to do," she told me.

"What did you do...?"

Another dense barrage of energy was fired at me.

This time, a barrier of fire and ice surrounded me.
