Forestra's POV
I'd gone through so many portals that I already lost count, but I didn't imagine that Feliz could create something like this.
When I stepped into the portal with my friends, I stepped out alone. My shoes stepped on some hard concrete surface. The smell of fresh smoke instantly made its way to my nose, my brain felling like it was on fire. The sunlight was bright-- so bright that it took me a while to fully register everything around me.
I was on top of a massive skyscraper, smoke rising up from dozens of buildings around me. Down below, people were screaming. Chaot must have really caused chaos. No pun intended.
But most shockingly of all, when I looked to the horizon, there was a massive wall of water. It seemed to be around two hundred feet. It was at least a few basketball courts away from the Mall of Asia to the right of my vision. I felt myself breathing heavily.
This was much worse than anything I'd seen before...
Whoosh!!!
That sound started low, but eventually grew to the point that I could tell that it was coming from my left.
Run!!!
I rushed to my right as quickly as I could. The ground began to rumble, causing me to lose my balance.
The building behind me shot high into the air, crumbled pieces of it flying everywhere. The building quaked and I was thrown off my feet. I put my arms out to the ground, except...
There was no ground.
I screamed as I plunged off the building. Air pounded at my face, tears filling my eyes. The ground slowly got bigger with each passing second.
I remembered Arcmagos and his energy whip. I also remembered that one time we had to retrieve Maia's radio...
Yep, I'm crazy for doing this again.
I threw my good arm out in the direction of a nearby building, mustering up as much power as I could. With a surge of power, organic matter streamed out of my hand. The vines launched straight at a building, and latched onto it in some way. I wiggled my hand for a moment, asking myself if it would be strong enough for my weight. Thankfully, it didn't snap.
I held on to the vine rope as tight as possible as I zoomed downward. The vines tightened and I started to glide through the air.
It worked.
It actually worked.
I cheered to myself as I released the rope, the ground a blur beneath me. My stomach clenched as I hit the ground with my feet. I ran my fastest to keep up with my current momentum. The sidewalk was relatively empty, as most of the people here had evacuated.
I eventually regained my momentum and stopped, huffing heavily. I looked ahead and found that the street led straight to the Manila Bay area. I could see the Mall of Asia somewhere along the side, but that wasn't why I knew where the ocean was.
Where the ocean would stand was a massive wall of water.
The wall was about two hundred feet high, glimmering with a hazy yellow hue. It stayed still, like a predator waiting for the perfect moment to ambush its prey.
I could not let that drop.
Chaot had to be stopped.
I clenched my teeth and sprinted as fast as I could, feeling the wind whiz past me. I passed by building after building until I found myself looking down on Manila Bay.
What a scene.
My friends were all fighting desperately. Chaot had at least twenty monsters darting through the air, repeatedly attacking Maia, Blackout, Spotlight, Rocksworth, Cyclone, Riverflow, Pyroclast, Arcmagos, Feliz, and Eon.
Hold up, what was Eon doing in the middle of the battle?
Priority: Get Eon the hell out of there!
I screamed as I wrapped some thorns around a monster, watching it disintegrate into dust. I ran across a wooden bridge the size of a garden, rapidly shooting at the monsters. Some of the shots missed, but I didn't care because it was satisfying to watch as every demon, phantasm, wraith, dragon, earth golem, storm giant, water elemental, lava golem, specter, or ent burst into dust.
Finally, I set foot on the sand. I pounded through it with all my might. The bay was much wider than normal, as the wave had taken much of the water. Half of the sand was flat, glimmering with a thin coat of water. I did not see it as more room to stay alive, but rather as more to die in.
But I was willing to risk my chances.
"Forestra!" Maia yelled in midair.
"Where were you!?"
"Transport--- problems--" I gasped.
A dragon shot down to the ground, right next to me. It raised a fist, but I swiftly evaded a punch and sprung back up, simultaneously slashing the neck and applying noxious poison to the resulting wound. I immediately dashed away, watching as the dragon slowly turned to dust as it succumbed to the wound and poison.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed my neck from behind.
I tried to scream, but nothing came out.
Panic.
I tried to breathe.
Nothing.
Panic.
A faint voice whispered in my ear, "Come out..."
Then, I was thrown down to the sand. I crumpled to the ground, coughing and wheezing. Sharp stings of pain blasted my bad arm apart.
Above me, a blurry Chaot stood, high and mighty. An arm raised into the air, she was pointing to the nasty wave of water above.
What was she...
No...
I watched in complete silence and hopelessness as the whole wave of water began to crest and fall...
