Maia's POV

Three down, eight to go.

Mikaela morphed into someone else. This time, it was a short boy. He was wearing a full set of armor, and he had a spear made of lightning in his hand. His face was blocked from my view, because white covered it.

The vengeful soul appeared.

"My family is dead, and it's all your fault."

You asked him to teach you how to play volleyball. For some reason, he feels compelled to do so...

Lightning started charging at me from all directions. Using my wings as shields, I deflected them.

"You're in the way of my revenge."

You flashed a big smile, which you remembered he wanted to do, especially when Rocksworth was involved. He feels like smiling back...

My ankles were suddenly bound to the ground by chains. There was a yellow glow in front of my chest, which shielded my front.

Soon, lightning came from all directions. I turned my body to deflect them.

"This world is only kind to the strongest and the best."

You reminded him that he was able to go on despite being the only one remaining in his family. He kind of wants to cry...

The white on his face faded, and he was smiling at me, with a helmet in his hand.

"Well, I guess you're alright. I'm sorry for dragging you all into this mess, but there's no turning back now. Save them," Cyclone said.

He faded away from view in a thundercloud, and Mikaela reappeared.

Mikaela disappeared again, and in her place was a girl in a lab coat. She had a very bloody gash on her chest. Stone shackles were on her wrists and ankles. Her face was invisible.

The cowardly soul appeared.

"You hate me, don't you?"

You told her that you would always be there to support her. The way you said it sounds familiar to her...

Somehow, large boulders started emerging from the ground and circled around her, all while firing smaller stones at me. I weaved my way through them.

"I have to keep lying. It's the only way I could survive."

You reminded her of how fond she was of Cyclone. She seemingly wanted to smile...

A glowing outline of a 3x3 grid appeared beneath me. I was in the middle square. Boulders started coming from all directions, passing over certain squares in the grid. I danced on the grid, moving from one square to another.

"All I do is bring misery."

You reminded her of the time when she always brought a journal with her. She kind of wants to laugh at herself...

Her face began turning visible again, and the shackles on her wrists and ankles shattered.

"No, wait, that's not true. I have many friends now, and we all like each other. There's no need for you to fear, Maia. Thank you for freeing us from our guilt," Rocksworth thanked me.

Her form shattered to let Mikaela take her place. Her face was a bit different from the one she assumed earlier, as if she felt... something else.
