Maia's POV

When I looked up at the gigantic wall of water, my stomach completely dropped. The entire wave slowly crested until the top was high above the battle.

No!

It can't end this way!

Hold fast to your resolve...

But it was hopeless.

Chaot had already won.

Wow. You already want to give up? Where did that resolved girl I know go?

Shut the fuck up!

Even before the wave was sent over them, Chaot had won.

I sorely remembered ramming that sharp steel pole through that woman's back.

Even after that, Chaot was still as strong as she was.

And now, we'd be submerged under hundreds of feet of water.

I could get out of this fairly easily.

I could just fly away and soar above the wave with simple ease.

But my friends can't.

I'd rather die with them than survive alone.

"Forest...!" Arcmagos screamed.

"Help... me!!!"

I spun around, seeing Arcmagos with his arms stretched out. And he was... shooting at the wave?

Actually, it wasn't just him.

I also saw a dark beam and a light beam.

As for Pyroclast and Cyclone, they were fighting any monsters that went near Riverflow and Rocksworth respectively.

The three beams were continuous, fanning out once they reached the wave. Each string of energy zipped across the wave's surface. My eyes widened as I realized...

The wave had stopped.

I looked down at Forestra as she struggled to stand up. Luckily, Chaot wasn't anywhere near her, but instead attacking Riverflow and Rocksworth. Forestra collapsed onto her knees, her face glum and pained.

"Forestra..." I breathed.

The hazel-eyed girl suddenly looked up at the wave, resolve in her eyes.

With a strained scream, she shot her good arm out and a sickly green beam of acid forced itself on the wave. My eyes sealed shut and fell out of the air.

Even through closed eyes, the green glow of Forestra's beam was blinding. I spun in slow circles, everything a disgusting shade of green.

My feet gave out under me as the sand came up to meet me. I crashed into the sand, silent.

A few moments later, I felt a hand clasp my shoulder.

My eyes jolted open due to the sudden feeling.

Eon was looking down at me. She smiled softly.

"Get up," she cooed.

"The battle's almost over."

I smiled a little.

She looked so beautiful even with her face full of dust.

Did she grow her hair out?

It looked great. She looked great.

I drew my eyebrows in a bit.

"I am not finishing it until I do something. Forgive me for this..."
