Michael's eyes widen as he realizes who this is. "You're God."
He nods. "I am," he confirms. "Nice to see you again, Michael. Gabriel." He tips his head politely at the two archangels. "Are Lucifer and Raphael here as well?"
"Raphael is dead, but Lucifer is here," Michael replies.
"Where? I would like to see him."
Michael hesitates. "I do not believe that would be wise. He's not doing very good right now, and seeing you again... Well, it probably won't help very much."
"Michael, bring your brother out here," God repeats in a more commanding tone.
Michael nods once and begins to go, but Gabriel stops him. "You catch up with Dad. I'll go check on Luce."
What he really means, and Michael knows it as well, is that he doesn't want Lucifer to snap at Michael. If he's going to hurt anyone, Gabriel wants it to be him. After all, an upset Lucifer is an unpredictable Lucifer, so it's best to be prepared.
Gabriel doesn't wait for a response as he walks through the familiar corridors of the bunker until he reaches what was at one point Mark's room. Gabriel knocks loudly, then pushes the door open without waiting for a response. It wouldn't have come anyway; the room is empty.
It takes Gabriel a moment to remember that he left with Bailey, so he's likely in Bailey's room. It's worth a shot, anyway. He heads to Bailey's room, knocking loudly once again. He opens the door immediately, this time with better luck.
Lucifer is sitting on the floor next to Bailey's bed, his head buried in his knees with his arms tucked between his thighs and his chest. Though he's quiet, Gabriel has the advantage of angel senses, and he can hear a sound he's never heard before.
"Lucifer?" Gabriel says uncertainly. "Are you okay?"
Lucifer ignores him.
"Are... Are you crying?" Gabriel asks. He doesn't care that it's a fairly insensitive question. This has never happened before. Literally never, in the history of everything.
Lucifer ignores him once again.
Gabriel sits down in front of his brother so they're closer to the same height. "Hey, Luce. Come on; someone's here to see you."
Lucifer ignores him yet again.
"Come on, Luci!" Gabriel pleads. "Talk to me."
Lucifer doesn't.
"Is everything okay?" Gabriel asks him.
Lucifer ignores that stupid question.
"Do your vocal cords still work?" Gabriel jokes.
No response.
"Jace got your tongue?"
No response.
Gabriel sighs. "Look, Lucifer. I get that you're upset, but you've got to get up. Come on, I think we just got ourselves a ride to get Macie and Bailey back and good as new!"
Finally, Lucifer looks up, revealing his tearstained face. "Just... Leave me alone, Gabriel."
"Don't you want to get Macie back and wake Bailey up?" Gabriel asks, confused.
"Why bother? They'll be gone by the end of the week. It happens every time. I just want it to stop."
Gabriel looks at him sympathetically, but as his eyes land on something in his hands, they become fearful. He freezes, unsure what to do. Finally, he says slowly, "Um, Luce? Can-Can I have the blade?"
Lucifer holds up the angel blade that has been tightly clenched in his hands for a while. The palm of one has a large cut from where the blade dug into it, bleeding heavily because he didn't remove it. There's a hole in his shirt from where it must have stabbed him as well, leaving a small prick that's bleeding slightly as well.
Lucifer looks at the angel blade for a while, resting it in his hands as he watches it. Gabriel remains frozen, afraid that with one wrong move, Lucifer will make a decision he can never unmake. Lucifer turns the blade over in his hands, admiring it though his thoughts seem elsewhere. After a very long minute, he looks up at Gabriel slowly. Gabriel watches him, not sure what to do right now. Can he just snatch it? Or would Lucifer stop him? Probably the latter, with his reflexes.
Finally, Lucifer begins to slowly turn the blade so the point faces himself, his hand around the middle. Gabriel watches with wide eyes, silently begging his brother not to do it. Lucifer is still for a moment, eyes on the point. His hands slowly creep down the sharp edges until his hand is tightly gripping the blade. His hand begins bleeding harder, but Lucifer either doesn't notice or doesn't care. He slowly holds the blade out to Gabriel, who waits until it's within reach and then quickly snatches it from his hand.
"Good," Gabriel says softly, knowing it's still not good, and likely won't be for a long time. "Good... Um... So, you heard our conversation, right?"
Lucifer shakes his head slightly.
"Oh." Should Gabriel be glad his brother doesn't know that the actual God is here? The odds of him wanting to see his father again are slim to none. Maybe it's for the best. "Okay, well, come with me, okay? And don't freak out."
Lucifer is still for a moment before nodding once. Gabriel stands up, so Lucifer does the same and allows his younger brother to lead him into the living room. When God comes into view, Gabriel looks back at Lucifer, preparing for the worst. Lucifer doesn't acknowledge him; instead, he stares off into nothingness.
"Lucifer," God breathes. "What happened to you?"
Gabriel looks back at his brother, just now remembering his wings. Lucifer doesn't give any indication he heard God speak; he barely glances at him.
"Here, let me fix that," God offers. He walks up to Lucifer, who slowly steps away. God reaches out a hand, and Lucifer takes another step away. "I'm just fixing your wings," God assures him. He's about to touch Lucifer's forehead, but the angel takes another step away. God looks at him curiously. "What? Do you not want me to fix your wings?"
It's Michael that explains. "Zeus has been pretending to be you for a while, and he did some... Harsh things to Lucifer. He's the reason his wings are like that, actually. You came here in the same body and you're doing exactly what he would do by trying to heal him. It's probably not very pleasant for him."
"But I won't hurt you," God assures Lucifer. "I'd never hurt you."
"You threw me in Hell," he says softly.
"I know, and I had every intention of pulling you out quickly, but I just... Left this world behind for a long time," God says.
Lucifer looks straight ahead, though he seems to be looking through God instead of at him. He doesn't reply, which clearly perplexes his father. God reaches out for his son again, who takes a small step away until he's against the wall.
God places his hand on Lucifer's forehead, causing the angel to flinch, very perceptively. God heals Lucifer's wings, regrowing all the feathers and healing the burnt ones. Lucifer's wings stretch out to their full length, their shadow apparition appearing on the wall he's against.
It only lasts a moment, then his wings return to their previous limp position. Lucifer never lets his wings lie like that. They're always stretched out, their full glory revealed at all times. It's become habit, he's done it so long. Not being able to hold them up like that was strange to the archangel when they were burnt, and he complained about it all the time. Now he won't lift them at all, though he's perfect my capable of doing so.
God looks at Lucifer curiously as the angel stares up at the ceiling. God turns to the rest of the group and asks, "Is he always like this?"
"No..." Michael says cautiously, walking up to his brother. "Lucifer, are you okay?" When he doesn't get a response, he places his hand on his brother's shoulder, causing the younger archangel to look at him. "Lucifer, what's wrong?"
Lucifer looks to the ground silently.
"Is he broken or something?" Dean asks.
"Dean, stop," Castiel commands him, so he does.
"Lucifer?" God says uncertainly.
"Maybe we should give him some time alone," Michael suggests.
"No," Gabriel says quickly.
Seeing Michael's confused look, he tells Michael through Angel Radio what he walked into during his search for Lucifer. Michael's eyes go wide and he turns back to his other brother quickly, unable to believe it.
"What?" God asks.
"Nothing," Gabriel says quickly. "Uh, nothing that concerns you, anyway. Just a... Brotherly issue."
"As much as I hate to cut this family meeting short, shouldn't we be trying to find Zeus to get Macie back and to wake Bailey up?" Janus asks.
"We don't even know where to look," Sam reminds him.
"I'm sure we'll figure it out," God says. "But first, can someone please explain to me what's going on? I left this world alone for thousands of years and everything was fine, but in the last ten or so years, I keep getting alerts about inter dimensional travel and new powerful creations that I didn't know were possible."
"Shouldn't you know this already?" Mark asks. "I mean, you're God. Aren't you supposed to know everything that's been going on here?"
"No. I made this world and then I left it behind to make more and I haven't been back since near the beginning of mankind. I nearly forgot about all this; Heaven, Hell, Earth, all of it. But I get alerts whenever things happen in my worlds that I might want to check out, and I've finally gotten around to it."
"You haven't been here at all?" Gabriel repeats.
"That's right."
"Then... Where's Amara?"
God freezes when he says that. Slowly, he asks, "What are you talking about? She's supposed to be locked up..."
"No, she got free and Rob-Zeus, rather, claimed to take her to wherever you guys hang out in your free time."
"How did she get free?" God demands.
"A man named Jensen Ackles got the Mark of Cain to kill a Knight of Hell and when he got it off, she got free," Gabriel informs him.
"And Zeus took her as well?"
Gabriel nods. "Yes."
God is silent for a moment before saying, "Come. I will bring us to the Elysian Fields, and hopefully we will find her there."
