Third Person POV
Everyone leaves the living room soon after Bailey does. Jared and Gabriel go off first, then Jensen and Castiel, then Ruth, then Osric, and finally Mark Sheppard. Mark Pellegrino feels awkward just standing around during Macie, Jesse, and Alexis' family time, so he walks away, making himself invisible to everyone but Macie, who can always see him.
Mark wanders the halls, peeking into every room as he searches them. He accidentally walks in on Sabriel making out, and is glad when they can't notice. Finally, he finds the one he's looking for. He walks inside, making himself visible to angels only, because being visible to humans is a lot of work.
"Hey," he greets the man already here.
Lucifer doesn't look up. He's sitting on the bed with his legs by his chest, back against the wall. He holds out a hand, a small fire flowing from it. With the wave of his other hand, he can change the color; an oddly hypnotizing concept to the angel.
"We missed you," Mark offers to the conversation, if it can even be called that.
Lucifer ignores him, changing his light blue flame to the darkest black possible, and yet it somehow still emits a light.
"Are you okay?" Mark asks.
Lucifer waves his hand in front of the fire, the word 'Yes' appearing in it in white letters, flickering and barely readable.
"Are you mute now?" Mark asks jokingly.
Lucifer changes the fire so it's a normal orange color, then closes his hand into a fist and dissolves the fire entirely before looking up at the ghost.
"No," Lucifer replies, "I just like playing with fire. What do you want?"
"I want to talk to you," Mark replies.
"About...?"
Mark shrugs. "I don't care. I'm guessing it's pointless to ask what's wrong, so I won't bother with that. I just need something to do."
"Is it even worth me telling you to get lost?" Lucifer asks.
"Nope!" Mark says proudly. "So, what's new in Lucifersville?"
"Nothing," Lucifer replies in a closed off tone.
"You're no fun," Mark pouts.
"When have I ever claimed to be fun?"
"Whenever you're not in a horrible mood," Mark reminds him. "Stop being in a bad mood."
"Yeah, because that's gonna work," Lucifer says sarcastically.
"Salty Luci," Mark teases.
Lucifer just rolls his eyes.
"Come on, Luci, talk to me! It's been months!"
"Stop quoting yourself."
"But I like quoting myself."
Lucifer just rolls his eyes again.
"Pay attention to me. I'm bored!"
Lucifer's eyes are really getting a workout from all this eye rolling.
"Am I gonna be stuck here all night having a completely one sided conversation?" Mark asks.
"No, you're welcome to leave," Lucifer tells him. "But, knowing you, you're going to be here all night having a very one sided conversation."
"It's beginning to look that way," Mark agrees, but he doesn't go to leave. He could either leave and be alone all night, or talk to Lucifer all night and get no response. He might as well do the latter. It'll probably be more fun.Michael appears in the living room that night, expecting to see his brothers, as he always does during his nighttime visits. To his surprise, the only ones here are Macie and co.
"Hi," Macie greets him, being polite about it despite her obvious dislike of him.
"Hi..." Michael replies, looking around, confused.
"They're all in various bedrooms with various people," Macie explains vaguely.
"Ah," Michael replies. "In that case, I'm going to go."
Alexis runs up to him, her six year old body barely reaching his hip. "Hi!" she says excitedly. "I'm Alexis! Who are you?"
"Alexis, come back," Macie instructs her.
"But Mommy!" Alexis whines.
"Come here," Macie commands again. "Don't bother Michael."
"I'm not bothering him!" Alexis says defensively. "Right?" she adds, looking up at the angel.
"Not at all," Michael replies, though it's not entirely true. He isn't too big on kids. "Who is this?"
"My daughter, and you're not going to bother her," Macie replies.
"I won't," he promises her. "I was wrong about you. You turned out okay; I'm sure your daughter will as well."
"Damn straight she will," Macie says proudly.
"Your name's Michael?" Alexis asks, looking up at the archangel.
"Yes."
"Hi, Michael!" Alexis says energetically.
"Hi."
"You don't talk a lot, do you?"
Michael chuckles at her boldness. "And you talk a lot."
"I do!" she agrees cheerfully. "You should stay here with us!"
"I can't. I have a kingdom to rule." It's not true; he could easily leave for a few days if he's willing to pick up the mess. It'll take at least a month before things get too crazy to fix if he doesn't make his absence obvious.
"Pleeeeaaaase?" Alexis pleads.
"Alexis, he has to go," Macie tells her, disguising her distrust of the angel in the cute tone used with kids.
"But why?"
"He has to go protect Heaven," Macie replies.
"What's Heaven?" Alexis asks, the question clearly directed at Michael.
"It's where my brothers and I live," he replies, not wanting to go into detail.
"Why don't you live here?" Alexis asks.
"Because I'm needed in Heaven."
"What do you do in Heaven?"
"I make sure my siblings always have something to do." Of course, he does a lot more than that, but it seems like the easiest answer for her to understand.
"Why don't they do their own things?" Alexis asks. "Why do you have to tell them what to do?"
"You ask a lot of questions," Michael observes.
"I do!" she admits proudly. "Mommy says curiosity is a good thing!"
"Unless you're asking questions from people who are trying to leave," Macie adds. "Michael has to go."
"But I wanna keep talking to him!" Alexis whines.
"Your mother is right. I have to go," Michael tells her, mostly because he doesn't want to have to deal with Macie telling him to leave anymore.
"To Heaven?" Alexis asks.
"Yes."
"Can I come?"
"I don't think that's wise," Michael replies with a glance at Macie, who clearly thinks the same thing.
"Pleeeeaaaase?" Alexis begs. "I wanna go to Heaven! Can I please come to Heaven with you? Pleeeeaaaaase?"
"No. I'm sorry." Michael flies back to Heaven before Alexis can protest.
"Come here, Alexis," Macie welcomes her.
"I wanted to go to Heaven!" she whines, sitting down on the floor and bursting into tears.
Macie sits on the couch, wanting to go comfort her but unsure how. There's no way Alexis can go to Heaven with Michael. Macie doesn't trust him enough for that. But she can't watch Alexis crying, either. Parenting is hard.
"Hey, Alexis," Jesse coos, walking over to her and sitting in front of her. "You know what's more fun that Heaven? Earth. See, in Heaven, things are a little crazy right now. It's not safe up there. But we can have a lot of fun here!"
"If it's not safe, why is Michael there?"
"Because it's his job to make it safe," Jesse replies, though he really doesn't know what Michael does in Heaven. "It's safe for him, but not for you."
"But if I went with him, I'd be safe!"
Jesse looks to Macie for help, but she's just as clueless as him.
"I wanna go to Heaven!" Alexis cries.
"Shhh, people are sleeping," Jesse whispers.
"I don't care!"
"Be quiet," Jesse instructs her.
"No! I wanna go to Heaven!"
"You can't," Macie tells her. "End of story."
"Mommy! I wanna go to Heaven!" Alexis yells.
"You can't go, so stop screaming," Macie hisses.
"Why not?"
"Because I said so."
"Mommy! I wanna go to Heaven! Let me go to Heaven! Mommy! Daddy, make Mommy let me go to Heaven!"
"You can't go to Heaven," Jesse tells her apologetically.
"I wanna go to Heaven!" Alexis screams.
"Alexis, you can't go with Michael so stop asking!" Macie says.
"Why not? What don't you like Michael?"
"That's none of your business," Macie replies. "But you are not going anywhere with him, so stop asking."
"I wanna go to Heaven!" Alexis screams over and over, as loud as possible.
Jesse walks over to Macie and says quietly, "Maybe we should let her. She's not going to stop until we do."
"She's not going to Heaven," Macie says stubbornly.
"I'm sure every single human here agrees wholeheartedly," Jesse says sarcastically. "There's no way anyone is sleeping through this, and no one is going to until she stops yelling, and she won't stop yelling until she can go to Heaven."
"I don't care," Macie replies. "She's not going anywhere with Michael and that's final."
"I think it could be a good idea," Jesse tells her. "She's been cooped up in the bunker for her whole life. Maybe she should go."
"No," Macie says immediately.
"Why not?" Jesse asks curiously.
"Because it's Michael," she hisses. "And I'm not letting my daughter near him and his brothers, especially if I'm not around."
"Why not?"
"Because from what I know about Michael, it would be a death trap. He tried to kill me. He would do it to her, too."
Suddenly, Michael appears in the room, looking really annoyed. "Someone wants me here, and it's getting very hard to concentrate," he announces.
"Michael!" Alexis cries, jumping up and giving him a hug. "You came back!"
"Michael, what are you doing here?" Macie asks, not even trying to be polite anymore.
"I felt Alexis longing for me, and I couldn't concentrate in Heaven."
"Well, learn to concentrate," Macie snaps. "Get lost."
He looks down at Alexis, who's wrapped around his legs. "If I go, she'll go."
Macie sighs and walking up to them, attempting to pull Alexis away, but she can't. Alexis is stuck to Michael, because she knows it's how to get her way.
"Alexis, come on," Macie says, trying to pull the child away.
"No! I wanna go to Heaven!"
Michael looks at Macie and gives her a small shrug. He can do his stuff up there with the kid. It would be a billion times more annoying, but he can just ignore her until she decides to leave.
Macie sighs, knowing she's been beat. "Fine. But only for a few hours."
"Yay!" Alexis squeals excitedly. "Michael, we get to go to Heaven!"
"We do," he agrees.
"And Michael?" Macie adds.
"Yes?"
"Don't kill my kid."
Michael chuckles. "It wasn't long ago your parents were saying that about you." He looks down at Alexis and offers her a hand. "Coming?"
She nods vigorously and takes his hand, allowing him to fly her to Heaven.
