A/N I'm pretty sure the only person still reading this is luciferstempest at this point. Anyways, welcome to the suddenly double spaced paragraph world!
Gabriel sighs, exasperated. "Okay, um... Yo, Dad, get your face down here right now."
Nothing.
"Daaaaaad, we need to talk to you!"
Crickets.
"Why are you ignoring me?"
Silence.
"Seriously, it's been, like, five whole minutes. This is kinda important, so if you could just show up, that'd be great."
It's about ten seconds later that God finally appears, looking bored already. "Please remember that my world doesn't revolve around you. I do have other priorities."
"Yeah, whatever," Gabriel says dismissively. "We have a question for you. So, I don't know if you know, but Lucifer went a bit crazy and —"
"Is Alexis dead?" Michael interrupts. "And if so, is she coming back?"
God sighs at that. "Oh. I should have realized that's what you were wondering. Uh, no, she's not coming back."
"Are you sure?" Michael asks. "Absolutely positive?"
God nods. "Yes. She was in Purgatory for a little while. For someone with no fighting experience, she did fairly well, but... Well, she could only last so long by herself."
"How long was she there?" Michael asks.
"Day and a half."
Michael nods slowly as he processes this. "She was in Purgatory. For a day and a half. By herself."
"Well, she was powerful, but also a beacon of sorts — even more so than an angel in Purgatory would be. She fought well, but..." he trails off.
Michael lets out a long breath and buries his face in his hands. Gabriel sits down with him again and puts an arm around him comfortingly. He looks over at God again.
"That leaves a bit of a problem behind," he tells his father. "Michael and Alexis were soulmates."
God nods, puzzled. "Well, yes, that would be why he's upset."
"No, I mean, what happens now? If she's dead, she can't have a kid."
His eyebrows draw together in contemplation at that. He doesn't answer at first as he attempts to figure this out. Finally, he just says, "I don't know."
Gabriel scoffs. "You don't know? You don't know? You're God. You know everything. What. Happens. Now?"
"I. Don't. Know," God repeats, over annunciating each word. "This was not supposed to happen. The fact that Lucifer would even have the power to destroy the order of your world baffles me." He pauses, then asks, "It was Lucifer, was it not?"
"It was," Gabriel confirms.
Michael looks up inquisitively. "You didn't watch her die."
"No, I do have better things to do than watch you lot all day."
"No, I mean, you didn't watch her die. So how do you know she's gone? For good, I mean? If you weren't watching —"
"I saw her die in Purgatory," God says simply.
"Oh."
"Should Lucifer have not been able to do that?" I ask.
"Well, no, but clearly —"
