Sam quickly scurries back to his newfound bedroom, hoping none of the angels realized he was there. What was that? Is that really what angels talk about in their free time? Actually, better question. What were they talking about?
There is some of their conversation Sam thinks he understands. For example, it seems the devil almost killed himself. Wow, that's a weird sentence. What drove him to that, Sam doesn't know, and though he's curious, he has no plans on asking. Though Dean may have warmed up to the guy, Sam is still wary of Lucifer. After all, Lucifer put him through hell, literally and figuratively, without a single positive moment to balance it out. Even if this is a different version of the angel, Sam isn't looking forward to having to talk to him, ever.
But Sam is mostly wondering about Gabriel. He spoke of Jared like he and Sam are one, but not. Sam vaguely remembers piecing together earlier that Jared is the actor who plays him on a show that he's part of, which is a very strange thought. So other Sam was dating Gabriel? Why? Why would this Jared dude ever want to go out with the Trickster?
Then again, tonight revealed a much different side to the angel than Sam knows. Even when he was getting so emotional about his family after that whole changing channels fiasco, he was never like this. He had been upset, understandably, but it was somehow different then. Tonight, he was... Softer. Sadder, even. As if though he loves his angelic family and hated to see them die, he loved Jared more, and it hurt him in a different way to see him leave.
Great. Just great. Sam wakes up early like any other person does at random times and now he has to feel guilty forever because he stole Gabriel's boyfriend. Well, at least it's just Gabriel. Sam doesn't really care what Gabriel thinks, anyway.TRIGGER WARNING: (if you aren't worried about being triggered, please skip this trigger warning because it contains spoilers. I don't know if this needs a trigger warning or not, but just as a heads up, there's talk about rape, so if you're sensitive to that, you might want to skip this part. You'll figure out what you missed soon enough. Look for the 'End Trigger Warning' in bold later on in the chapter.)
It takes a while for Macie to start talking again. It's understandable, given the trauma she was put through. That's why Jesse doesn't push her to talk throughout the night. Well, that and he doesn't push people to do things a lot. Instead, he lets Macie cuddle up next to him, feeling her shaky breaths every time she starts sobbing again, though she tries to hide it.
"Jesse?" Macie says softly; the first time she's spoken in the hours they've been in the room.
"Yes?" Jesse replies.
"Thank you for staying with me," Macie murmurs.
"Of course," Jesse replies. It's not as if he's dying to get close to everyone else in the building. He knows those from the Supernatural world, and he definitely doesn't want to talk to them. He tried talking to Lucifer, and he's decided that will never happen again, and he can't see the other angels being much nicer.
Macie readjusts her position, rolling on her side more and resting her hands on her stomach. Suddenly, she sits up, her hands feeling her stomach, still under the covers.
"Oh my god..." she mutters, then looks up at the boy next to her. "Jesse..."
"What's wrong?" he asks quickly.
Macie removes the covers of the bed to reveal her stomach, which is much larger than it usually is. She looks up at Jesse again, panic in her eyes. Jesse is still for a moment, but finally, he speaks.
"Um... I don't really know what to do right now," he admits. "Is there anything I can do?"
"Get my parents," she whimpers.
"Your mom's probably asleep," Jesse reminds her. "Do you still want me to get her?"
"Oh, uh, no, just my dad, then."
Jesse nods once and slips out of the room and to the living room. Ignoring the confused looks he gets for not having Macie with him, he looks at Lucifer and beckons him towards him.
"Macie wants you," he says simply.
Immediately, Lucifer is on his feet. They return to Macie's room, where they find her sitting on the bed with her hands on her newly enlarged stomach. Lucifer's eyes go wide as he sees it, knowing exactly what it means from when it happened to Bailey not too long ago. He looks at Jesse accusingly.
"It wasn't me," Jesse says quickly.
It only takes Lucifer a moment to comprehend what truly happened, and he just nods in response to Jesse's defense. Lucifer frowns and turns back to his daughter, who is once again crying.
"It was Zeus, wasn't it?" Lucifer guesses.
Macie just nods.
Why didn't Lucifer see this coming? He should have known that Zeus would do this. He's had so many kids with so many people, it's only logical that he would try things on Macie. Lucifer makes himself a promise in that moment that if he ever sees Zeus again, he will kill him. It doesn't matter what it takes; he will get the job done.
"Daddy, I don't want to have a kid," Macie murmurs, tears falling down her face.
"I know, baby, but I don't think there's anything we can do about it," Lucifer says sadly. It's far too late for an abortion, their only other option. Who even knows if that would work, with a baby like this. It's never been seen before, just as someone like Macie has never been seen before.
"How long do you think I have 'til it's born?" Macie asks.
"My guess? By the end of the day, you'll be a mother," Lucifer replies, not wanting to sugarcoat things for her. There's no point in it. She'd figure it out anyway.
Macie just nods, processing this. "Well, at least it will be quick," she mutters. "Is this how you and Mom felt when she was pregnant?"
"It was," he admits, because there's no point in lying about it. "But it all changed when you were born."
"Do you think I'll grow to love my kid?" Macie asks.
Lucifer nods. "You will." Because if there's one thing he learned with Macie, it's that the parental bond is stronger than just about anything else.
Macie smiles slightly at that. "I just realized that my baby isn't going to have a dad."
Lucifer glances at Jesse, who's awkwardly standing in the doorway. "I don't think you'll have a hard time finding someone to fill that role."
Macie smiles at the thought of having Jesse play daddy for her child. He's definitely best fit go the position, seeing as the real father is Zeus and there's no way Zeus is going to be the father figure. Besides, it's Jesse, and if that's not enough, Macie doesn't know what is.
