A/N Holy crap it's been way longer than I thought. I genuinely don't know what to do rn with Bailey and co. but I totally forgot about Alexis so... Let's go check on Alexis and Michael!

"I can't believe your dad is Zeus," Michael says when Alexis finishes explaining why she ran away.
"I can't believe they never told you," Alexis replies. "I mean, I thought Lucifer and Gabriel tell you everything. What happened to that?"
"They don't tell me everything — far from it. I don't blame them; I'm still loyal to Heaven. I run it by myself, but you knew that already. They know that's my first priority, so they wouldn't tell me anything if they thought I would bring it to Heaven and take care of it."
"And they thought you'd 'take care of' me because...?" Alexis prompts.
Michael sighs. "Well, when your mother was born, she was something new, something no one had ever seen before, so I came down to keep an eye on her. It, uh, it didn't end well, and it could have ended worse. I think they're afraid I would have done the same to you if I knew you were really the child of a god, not a demon. The power you must have... It's dangerous. No one person should possess that much power."
"So what are you going to do?" Alexis asks nervously.
"Well, I can't just leave you out here. Ordinarily, I would have to at least try to kill you, but I have a better idea."
"What?"
"If we — Heaven — had any problems, we should be able to handle them, but that's not necessarily a given. But you — you're like a nuke in a fight of muskets. That alone should be reason enough for Heaven to accept you. You could come to Heaven with me, to stay."
Alexis smiles, thrilled at the idea. "Really? Yes! Definitely!"
Michael returns her smile. "Then let's go."

"No," every single angel says in unison.
"What? Why?" Alexis asks before Michael can speak. "I could help with — with stuff!"
"Heaven is for angels," Zachariah says, his gaze on Michael and ignoring Alexis entirely. "You know that. We cannot take the risk of having this — this thing, whatever it is, here.
"And we cannot afford any distractions, especially for you," Uriel (who never actually died in this world) adds. "You're our leader. You are in charge of all of this, all of us. You're supposed to keep us safe and organized. You can't jeopardize that for this girl."
"She could help," Michael insists. "My second in command, or even have an equal share of the power."
"Why her?" Uriel challenges. "What about me, or Zachariah? Someone here that knows Heaven, not one who has never been a leader before."
"Did you just ask to be my equal?" Michael asks, a dangerous tone to his voice.
"No! No, of course not," Uriel replies quickly. "I'm simply wondering what makes you believe she is worthy of being your equal, but none of us."
"For the same reason I am in control. I am an archangel; I have greater power than you. She has it in her blood. She is the descendant of an archangel."
The previously mostly silent crowd begins murmuring at this new piece of information. Michael waits patiently for the next argument directed towards him, which comes from Uriel.
"How? Angels cannot have children."
Right. He wasn't involved in the Macie issue. He never heard.
"They can," Michael replies. "It would rarely ever happen naturally, but it is possible, and it has happened."
"Who?" Zachariah asks. "What archangel?"
"Lucifer."
Suddenly, it's silent. No one seems to know how to react to this new information. The descendant of the devil, the embodiment of evil, is standing in Heaven. More than that, though, is that she wants to stay in Heaven. How does one respond to that?
It's Uriel that finally does. "We all say 'no.' It doesn't matter that you're the leader. You cannot make a decision like this when no one else agrees."
"Why not?" Michael challenges.
"Because you can't let the devil's spawn live in Heaven!"
Michael doesn't bother pointing out that technically, she's not the devil's spawn. Zeus' child wouldn't go over well, either.
"Lucifer is our brother," Michael replies evenly. "No matter what he did, he is still one of us."
"Maybe he is our brother, but he's not one of us," Zachariah replies. "Lucifer rebelled. He gave up that title when he fought against us."
"Your trust in him is misplaced," Uriel adds.
"I don't trust him," Michael replies. "And he doesn't trust me. But I do trust her."
"But we don't," Uriel tells him. "I believe we are all in agreement on this. She is not welcome here."
Michael sighs in defeat. "What do you want me to do? Just leave her out there? She'll be kidnapped for sure. She's a powerful weapon. We can't let anyone get their hands on her."
"You know what you have to do."
Michael looks down at Alexis. She's watching the discussion with wide eyes, unable to hide her fear. She looks so small and afraid. She's done nothing wrong but be born into the wrong family. Is he really supposed to kill her for that?
Michael looks up at the angels, a new determination present in his stance. "No."
"What?" both Zachariah and Uriel say at once, as the rest of the spectators begin talking quietly.
"No. I will not force you to tolerate her, but I won't leave her alone, and I won't kill her. What I will do is give you a choice. Either we both stay, or we both go."
Everyone begins talking among themselves, and Michael waits for their response. It's Zachariah who responds after talking to Uriel quickly.
"Then go. We all know this won't last. Take your break. You deserve it. But we all know you'll be back within a week."
"Not this time," Michael replies. With that, he leaves Heaven, Alexis by his side.
