Bailey's POV (for the first time in forever)
The only people in the living room when I get up are Macie, who's watching the end of season five of Supernatural, Jesse and Alexis, who are chatting, and Gabriel, who just looks done with everything. He looks up as I enter the room, and before I can say anything, he snaps his fingers and I'm suddenly sitting on the floor in front of him.
"Hey!" I whine. "What was that for?"
"I'm bored!" Gabriel complains.
"And you couldn't let me just walk over here?" It's more a tease than a complaint.
"Come on. It's, like, five seconds. Do you really want to go redo that?"
I nod. "Yes, yes I do."
I stand up as if I'm going to walk back to the doorway, but Gabriel takes my wrist and pulls me back down. I fall on top of him, causing us both to burst out laughing. I roll off him, lying down next to him and push myself up so my arm supports my upper body. Gabriel faces me, just holding his head up with his arm.
"I feel like we never get to talk anymore," Gabriel observes.
"I know!" I agree. "Cuz you're always hanging out with Jared," I add in a jokingly accusing way.
"And you're always hanging out with Luci," Gabriel adds. "Don't pin it all on me."
"But that's so much easier!" I tease him. "Hey, where is Lucifer, anyway?"
"And here I was, thinking you actually wanted to hang out with me," Gabriel pouts.
"Why would I want to do that?" I joke.
Gabriel sniffles as if he's crying. "I thought you loved me."
"Oh, of course I do!" I assure him quickly. "Except not really."
Gabriel traces a finger down his cheek. "Tear."
I laugh and applaud him in the most sarcastic way possible. "Very convincing. That's an Oscar winning performance. Well done."
"Thank you, thank you very much," he replies in a voice nothing like the one he usually uses. Seeing my blank expression, he clarifies, "Elvis?"
"Twist and Shout feels right there," I sniffle.
"What the hell is that?"
"You don't want to know," I reply. "Trust me, you really don't."
Gabriel gives me a puzzled look. "Okay... Oh, and Lucifer's hanging out with Michael for something, probably on some tropical island having the time of their lives. Or some sort of serious discussion. Probably the second one."
"A tropical island?" I repeat.
Gabriel nods. "Mm-hmm. Michael hates the cold. If he went anywhere, it's somewhere warm."
"But snow!" I protest.
"It's, like, not even snowy here," Gabriel reminds me. "It's snowed, like, twice, and it's gone. If it's not going to snow, why stick around in the cold?"
"True," I agree. "The Bahamas aren't looking that bad anymore."
"I agree. Let's go to the Bahamas!" Gabriel says with a grin.
"I didn't mean we should go there," I protest.
"But we had so much fun last time we went out somewhere!" Gabriel reminds me. "And I'm bored. Mostly the second one."
"Gabe, I love you and all, but there's no way I'm going to the Bahamas with you."
Gabriel traces a finger down his cheek. "A single man tear slips down his face."
I laugh. "I love that episode!"
"Everyone loved that episode. It's, like, the sixth best episode on the show."
"What are the first five?" Noticing his expression, I guess, "The five with you in them?"
Gabriel nods. "Bingo."
"I don't really like the one in season nine though," I tell him.
Gabriel gasps in mock offense. "But I was in it!"
"No, Rich was in it," I correct him. "Not you. Technically."
Gabriel rolls his eyes. "Yeah, sure. Whatever. I see how it is, Bailey."
"Come on, why do you care? Your character was dead anyway."
"Oh, true," Gabriel replies. "And Metatron's Gabriel has nothing on me. That's why that episode sucks."
"Sure, go with that," I tease. "Hey, is there a real Metatron here?"
Gabriel nods. "Yep. Curtis Armstrong, the actor, is his vessel. Metatron is way nicer than in the show, by the way. He helps Curtis get a lot of his roles. Obviously, Curtis is a phenomenal actor, but Metatron gets him the opportunities."
"That's nice of him."
"Yeah. See, some people actually get along with their angel. Like Misha and Cas. But not me and Rich. He's just annoying." Gabriel laughs. "I wish you could hear him right now. Annoying him is definitely one of my favorite things to do."
"I've noticed," I laugh. "You're not very discreet about it."
"Screw subtlety," Gabriel replies. "I'm annoying. It's my thing."
"Well, I love hearing you be annoying," I tell him.
"Well, that's mighty kind of you, m'lady," he replies with a grin. "Okay, but seriously, people actually used to talk like that. Like, why? It sounds ridiculous! You're lucky you're from the twenty first century, because the other ones sucked. Just sayin'."
"I have to admit, I consider myself pretty lucky to live now," I agree. "You know, except that Donald Trump is going to be president in, like, a month. Not so psyched for that."
"You should be," Gabriel replies. "You get to witness the destruction of a country in real time. Or the assassination of a president in HD."
"I swear to god, Gabe, if you assassinate the president..."
Gabriel clutches his heart as if shot. "Bailey, I can't believe you think so lowly of me! No, I think Misha would do it and Cas would teleport him out of there."
I laugh, mostly because this almost sounds like something Misha would do. He (probably) wouldn't kill the man, but I'm surprised he hasn't mentioned it yet.
"Probably," I agree. "But don't bring it up, or he'll actually do it."
"My lips are sealed," he replies, pretending to zip his lips, lock them, and slide the key in his pocket.
"What's the point of that if you're keeping the key?" I ask. "You could literally just unzip your lips at any time."
Gabriel mines unlocking his lips. "Yeah, so? At least I made an effort. Ugh, you ungrateful little girl."
"I'm not much shorter than you," I remind him. "But I can't deny the first part."
"I swear, it's like we're the same person," Gabriel observes with a laugh. "That's something I would have said."
"What can I say? I just know you so well."
