We all arrived at the funeral 30 minutes before it was meant to start.
Luke wore a simple black suit with a white shirt and black tie.
Elis wore a black laced dress with a black cardigan.
Jade wore an elegant black dress which went down to her knee and a pretty pair of black converse.
"Why are you wearing converse?" Luke questioned Jade.
"Because Jessy would have loved it." Jade said it simply.
"True that!" Elis and Luke said in synchronization. A high five was issued between them.
After a few giggles they fell silent in respect for Jessy. They took a look around the graveyard and saw the flowers of those who have passed.
They came across Amelia's grave stone and sat by it for a few moments. It was like a time for reflection and remembrance. Because although they had lost Jessy, she had slipped away long ago. The train crash lost her. You could view her as another victim but only she was alive, well not anymore.
Luke stood up.
"Luke where and what are you doing?" Elis had a concerned tone.
"I can't. It hurts, can we just do what we came here to do please?" He kept shaking his head whilst gesturing towards the building in which the ceremony was to be held.
Elis looked at Jade who nodded. "I guess so." Elis spoke softly with an element of fragile laced in her voice.
They walked away from Amelia's grave stone in the direction of the building. They reached the door and opened it.
Although the building wasn't a church it could have easily been mistaken for one. It had stain glass windows at the back and row on row of chairs like those that would be in a church.
There was a table at the back with 6 candle sticks in a circle on it and Jesus on the cross in the middle of the circle.
It was dark and felt cold. A man wearing a robe over the top of a black suit sat in a row.
He stood up and at first glance he looked like a priest.
"I'm not a priest. And you guys are here early." The man spoke softly without a trace of a authoritative tone.
"We came to see if it was what we wanted it to look like." Elis said walking down the center aisle.
"I did it exactly they way you asked." His voice was still soft with no authoritative tone.
"And the music?" Luke asked.
"It will be played when her coffin is being carried in and out of this building." Luke raised on eyebrow. "It will not stop playing until she is burried." Luke nodded, ridding his raised eyebrow from his face.
"I hope this does Jessy proud." Jade stated.
"Don't we all." Elis muttered. She took a deep breath and looked around the old, dark building.
"We'll just be outside." Luke pointed towards the door.
"Yes, yes of course." The priest like man said.
The three of them walked out the door to the blinding light of daylight.
They strolled around the graveyard around for five minutes. It was silent, you could only hear the occasional bird tweet.
However silence among these three can't last long.
"This is wrong." Luke stopped walking and looked up at the sky.
"Why'd you say that?" Elis questioned.
"It shouldn't be sunny, not today." His voice was croaky and small.
"It's gonna be okay." Jade rubbed Luke's shoulder.
"I know, I know." Luke stuttered around on his feet and continued walking around.
It was ten minutes late that the guests arrived. They all took a seat in the building and waited for Luke, Jade and Elis.
They walked in and took a seat in the front row. A moment or two passed and then the music started playing.
When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne.
Her coffin was carried in by six man. We all rose to out feet as a sign of respect.
"This is perfect." Luke, Jade and Elis whispered to each other.
They got to the end of the aisle and placed the coffin on the stands provided.
We all sat down and let the man speak. His words were kind and gentle. His voice was respectful and carried grace with it.
After he finished speaking Luke, Jade and Elis rose and took to the platform.
Luke started talking. "Although Jessy lived a short life, she lived a great one. She had the brightest smile when everyone else was crying. And was there for you even if you have extremely pissed her off." He chuckled.
"She had many talents." Jade spoke. "She was annoying. But very loving. And at times she could actually be human." Everybody laughed.
"But the one thing she will be remembered for is this." Elis pointed a remote at the screen. A picture of a little girl with chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream on her face appeared. "The messiest ice cream eater ever!" Everyone laughed again.
"Know that is what we, as her friends, will remember her for. And she will live within our memories. But there was a time when Jessy broke." Luke spoke.
"And we helped her try and fix her broken heart. Because that it what she did with us. She was our superglue so we become her superglue." Elis let a tear fall.
"Thank you Jessy. For being our friend. For being what we couldn't be." Jade added.
"We love you Jessy." They said in synchronization.
They took a seat again and let the coffin be carried out to tee place where she is gonna be burried. The minute she was lowered to the ground and band started playing.
I Wouldn't Mind by He is We.
The perfect song for Jessy.
Luke threw a red rose on her coffin. Jade threw a yellow sunflower. Elis threw a big white Daisy.
"This is for you Jessy." Luke whispered. Everybody listened to the band sing and said their goodbyes to Jessy.
"We did her proud." Elis said to Luke and Jade.
"Totally." Jade commented back.
"Hey, for her gravestone lets put Invasionally Influenced on it!" Luke added.
"Why?" Elis questioned.
"Because she was an alien who influenced us to make us be a better us. Even though me and Jade were in relationship, it was an experiment for Jade, she forgave us. Even though Elis killed her parents, she forgave us. Even though I literally frightened her half to death, she forgave us. That makes us a better us." Luke stopped talking and nodded.
"Invasionally Influenced. She was our alien friend." Elis and Jade both said.
"Let's engrave that." Luke nodded as he spoke.
They walked towards the band and just watched them played.
It was perfect, for a girl imperfect.
