| 15 | The Rose Garden

After a few seconds being held in Zen's arms he put me back on my feet. Shirayuki rushed over to me and checked that I was okay. I was shocked and startled a bit, but I guess that's what you would expect when you're free falling off a ladder. I didn't really want to leave Zen's arms, I wanted to stay there for a little longer because I knew Shirayuki will be held in those arms more than I would sooner or later.

I should stop carrying on about Shirayuki and Zen being together, it's fate and you can't rewrite fate. I nodded to myself making Shirayuki confused.

"What are you nodding too Y/N?" I jumped, waking up from my thoughts.

"I was saying that I wasn't going to fall from heights anymore" I laughed and scratched the back of my neck. 'says the girl who's last resort was going to be escaping out from a castle window'

"Are you sure that you're alright? You aren't yourself" Shirayuki pressed her hand on my forehead checking for symptoms of a fever. She's right, I'm not being myself, just snap out of it already!

"I'm good honestly, I was just thinking about something for too long" I laughed gently. "Thanks Zen for catching me" "too bad you weren't able to catch me last time" I laughed at Zen again. "I'll be off, you two can keep on talking" I pointed towards the door and sped walked away, later when they're not here I'll come back to the library to be in peace. The library was only on the first floor and the staircase down wasn't that far away from it either so it was an easy trip back and forth between my room.

I sat in my room with Victor balancing on my finger. He was such a pretty bird, I can't wait till he grows up and then I remembered that I left the bird book in the library. My memory is absolutely unbelievable, when I go there later today I'll bring Victor to the library with me. He'll be in his cage of course as much as I hate for him to be in that thing, it would be safer. I sighed and looked at Victor, how much I wished to be a bird. To have wings and to be able to fly away from problems such as mine would be great but that's never going to happen.

I put Victor back in his cage with the cage door open. He can't fly so he's no threat to my room, and not only that but there's no threats in my room anyway so he can't get hurt. I wondered around the garden by myself. It was full of fragrance, I ran into a little boy who was observing a plant.

"You were the one to take care of me while I was in a concussion" I just suddenly said that with no control. He looked up to me with a monotone stare.

"How are you feeling?" He looked back down at the plant and started to write notes.

"Thanks to you, I'm great" I knelt down beside him. "What's your name? I want to get familiar with everyone in the palace if I can"

"You can call me Ryuu, I'm the court herbalist" I widened my eyes, the court herbalist? he's so young and he has that title, "and please refrain from using honorifics after my name it's strange when someone older than me uses them" I nodded at his request.

"You can call me Y/N" "no need for honorifics either" "I'm the palaces blacksmith" I patted him on the head since shaking his hand would mean I'm treating him like an adult, I don't think he likes that considering his request with honorifics. He got slightly flustered at the action but calmed down. "I'll leave you to work Ryuu, I'll see you around sometime" I stood up and waved good bye. Finally I met someone new in this place.

I continued to walk through the garden and came across the flower garden. It was blooming with colour, how pretty. I heard voice and footsteps around the corner. I identified them as Zen and Shirayuki... of course. I ducked behind a hedge that was blooming with roses. I peaked up and looked at them. They were both having a lot of fun together but what really got me was that Zen had picked a rose and given it to Shirayuki. My chest started to burn, I hate being in a love triangle.

I stood up and dashed away without them knowing. (Stealthy Ninja XD) Now that I know their where about, I can go to the library. The sun was starting to set anyway so I thought it would be about time to go anyway.

I walked into my room and closed the bird cage up with Victor safely inside. I carried him and a candle stick all the way to the library, it's going to get dark so I decided to bring a light source. I found my own research table and left Victor and a lit candle there while I went to go and get the book. I moved the ladder a bit more to the right and climbed up again, this time without falling thank god because this time, there was no one there to catch me.

I placed the book beside the candle and started to flip through the pages in an attempt to find Victor's look-a-like. I found the page and pointed to the picture, I held the candle up to Victor and then back to the picture. I found it, Eastern Bluebird. I was correct, Victor is a boy. I smiled in victory. I noticed a glowing light, a light other than my candle coming from the window. I kept the book open at it's page and went over to inspect.

Zen and Shirayuki wouldn't still be up would they? no, they can't make a light this big.

The light seemed familiar though but I can't pin point the memory as I looked out the window my eyes slowly widened. It was way to familiar...

♦ I had to try and come up with a title that wouldn't give away the cliff hanger and it was harder than it looked since I really suck coming up with titles, I mean it took me a year to come up with this stories title so yeah I just called The Rose Garden. Hope that's good enough for y'all ♦
