We've come to chapter twelve. Twelve is my favorite number because I was twelve the first time I got to experience my Abuelita hitting my mom with a Mother Mary statue. Best day of my life. Latina moms are scary, but Latina grandmas....bitch you better run because they are triple the threat. Let's get on with the story
Dinah
Life had gotten boring, and I wanted something new to play with. People had been rather good lately and there was no reason to kidnap them if they didn't do anything wrong.
Life had been rather peaceful and I hated it. Hopefully, Michael's meeting with Lauren and I today would be interesting because I was restraining myself too much around the house. I went out as much as I could to avoid pushing Lauren up and against a wall and taking her because I wasn't looking to get on her nerves lately.
She had been good, I rewarded that by being good back to her. Camila had left her alone and she had been quiet, respectful, and polite, just like I needed her to. She played her piano, ate meals with me, and slept next to me at night. Of course, she wouldn't touch me but we'd get to that point. Hopefully.
"Miss Hansen, Michael Jauregui's fleet has entered the perimeter," my best agent reported, holding his earpiece. "Seven cars."
"Close the gates, have team one and three arm up just for safety precautions. Go get Lauren too while your at it," I spoke, standing up from my desk and walking to the front of my home. I felt protective, over the place I had grown up and my wife who lived in it with me. Michael had been known to go out with a bang and I didn't want any unneeded conflict, especially with Lauren here. She didn't know what kind of a man her father was, but I did and I didn't know why he wanted to see her and I didn't like that.
He knew what it meant to marry his daughter away. She was mine now, not his, and if he acted like she was still his for one moment I would not hesitate to hurt him.
"Ma'am," Lauren spoke quietly, drawing my attention to the green eyed girl who was dressed rather comfortably. Turning around, I walked to her, placing a soft kiss on her lips.
"I said you could call me Dinah, Lauren. You don't have to call me ma'am. Did you just wake up?" I asked, looking down at her basketball jersey with short jean shorts.
"Yeah. I'm sorry I-"
"Why are you apologizing?" She looked genuinely surprised as I smiled softly, tracing her jawline. She was so beautiful. I had a feeling she was only letting me be touchy because her father would be here and she wanted to make everything look like it was okay. She was a smart girl. "We all need a little extra sleep. I just wished you would've told me. I could've used a couple more hours, with you," I whispered in her ear, bring her against me by the small of her back.
Her body tensed up and I couldn't help but smirk, knowing she wouldn't do anything even though it was bothering her. "He's here," she gasped, tapping my shoulder frantically before pointing towards the window. "He's here!" She seemed excited and I could understand why. She hadn't seen him in awhile, because of me.
I smiled and let go, letting her run out the front door, going straight to his car where she threw herself into his arms. I stood in the doorway, waiting as they hugged tightly, obviously savoring the moment. "Charlie," I whispered, looking to one of my guards who turned his attention towards me. "Keep an eye on Michael's men. They're welcome to stay in the visitor room. If they leave, stop them."
"Yes, ma'am," he answered and I nodded, pulling on a large smile as Lauren walked towards me with her father. Once they were up the stairs, I was pulling Lauren to my side. It wasn't like I was jealous that he was getting more attention from her or anything. I just, I liked her next to me.
"Mr. Jauregui, always nice to see you," I said neutrally, shaking his forearm, an old way of making sure the other wasn't carrying a hidden weapon. It seemed he wasn't, that was good.
"You too, Dinah Jane," I straitened at the sound of my first name, not appreciating associates use of it. I liked to be referred to as Mrs. Hansen, not Dinah Jane, unless it was family or friends. "Quite a nice house you have."
I nodded in thanks, my arm bringing Lauren against me on my side away from him. Why was I being so protective?
"Beautiful, isn't it dad? Dinah really has an eye for this stuff," Lauren leaned her head against my shoulder as we entered the dining room where lunch was set. My body visibly tensed at the way Lauren said my name, and the feeling of her touching me voluntarily.
"Yes, it is, my joy. Do you like it here?" Straight to the questions with this guy. What was with that?
"Of course," I watched as Lauren lied right through her teeth, her eyes flickering to mine in fear for a quick moment before we sat down at the table. I sat at the head on the table, Lauren on my left and Michael on my right.
"That's great, Laur. You always know you're welcome to come back home," he spoke and I shot him a glare before it disappeared at the feeling of Lauren's hand on my wrist. Her fingers grazed my skin softly before moving in between my fingers and holding my hand.
I looked at her in surprise and she smiled, her gaze on her father. "No, that's alright. I'm not going anywhere papa. I love it here." Lauren looked at me, her green eyes on mine. I wished that was true but I knew it wasn't. She wasn't happy here, she hated it here. She wanted out, so why was she lying.
