Lauren
Her hands were firm on my hips as we kissed, the moonlight dancing across our skin as we relished the perfect moment.
We stood in a field of roses, white, white roses that made my skin tingle with excitement. She held me in her arms safely, her lips gently pulling from mine.
"I love you," she whispered as she looked down at me, her chocolate eyes staring into my soul hopelessly. She looked absolutely vulnerable in the moment as her hands left my hips to caress my cheeks.
"I love you too," I repeated the words, the sounds lingering on my tongue as we stood there, basked in the light of the moon.
The white roses were glimmering as she dipped me down, kissing me softly as my arms hooked around her neck.
"Enough to die for me?" She whispered against my lips and my eyes shot open, pulling away from her embrace almost immediately. What had she asked? I couldn't have heard that properly.
"What?" I whispered in disbelief, rubbing my arms as she stepped forward.
"Do you love me enough to die for me?" She asked again and this time, her eyes fell with an evilness I had become too familiar with. She was pulling a gun from behind her and when she lifted it to me, I cowered in fear.
"What are you doing?"
"Preserving what's mine," she said softly before blood started to run in tears down her cheeks. "We can be together, forever now Lauren."
Then the gun went off.
I woke up, sweat and tears rolling down my skin as I breathed deeply, trying to calm down. "It's okay Lauren. It was just a dream, just a dream," I whispered to myself, my eyes gazing across my bedroom.
A god damn dream that had felt all to real.
It was dark except for the rays of moonlight streaming in through the window, and so silent, I could hear the rush of my blood in my ears.
Scooting to the edge of my bed, I slid out from the covers and stood up, my skin forming goosebumps as it became exposed to the cold air.
What a scary nightmare that was, I thought to myself as I tore a blanket from my bed and wrapped it around myself. Now that I was awake, I wouldn't be able to fall back asleep.
My footsteps were quiet as I walked down the hallway, stepping down each stair with caution as the scenes of my nightmare replayed in my head over and over. That had been terrifying.
Stepping into the kitchen, I went straight for the cookie jar but to my disappointment, there were none. At least Dinah kept full jars, I thought to myself in agony, a pounding headache starting to infiltrate my thoughts.
My eyes wandered to the window, suddenly having the urge to take a walk through the open field of grass.
Quickly, I was grabbing my iPod and headphones after slipping on my shoes and running outside, leaving the blanket behind.
My hands fumbled to get the headphone end into the jack but when I did, I went straight to a playlist I had made for Camila's recommendations. Now, my head was painfully starting to hurt but as The Scientist by Coldplay came on, I ignored the pain and ran.
I let my body work on it's own as I just ran, the world whizzing by as I took more steps. My mind was wrapped in the music as the pain in my head started to dissipate, taking me from reality with it.
When the song and the one after it ended, my house was just a tiny dot in the distance. Had I really ran that far?
My breathing was labored as I looked around, the moon shining down on everything from above. It was beautiful. I always loved the moon.
Sitting down, I just watched as the moon seemed to move across the sky very slowly. I didn't want to go home. I wanted to stay here, watching the stars light up the galaxy. Everything was so beautiful, but so far away. Those stars were probably already dead, and so sparked the thought; if I had a little light, would it be dead by the time it reached them? Would I mean anything to anyone if my light wasn't shining anymore?
I had strange thoughts at night.
-
When I had woken up, there were sirens that I immediately recognized as Dinah's cars, zooming down the street and towards my house. What had happened?
Standing up, I frowned when I realized I had fallen asleep in the field last night. I didn't remember doing so.
Starting to walk back, I realized the house was actually closer than it looked and when I finally arrived, I was petrified to see the house in full lock down.
"I want squads all over! Now! We have to find her!" I recognized Dinah's voice immediately and I started to walk to her before laying a hand on her back.
"What are you doing here?" I asked and she turned around, her eyes widening with worry and concern. It made my heart flutter shortly before I remembered the things she had said to me before. The way she had broken me in the parking lot of Camila's apartment complex.
Her arms pulled me into her embrace strongly and protectively, her breathing heavy as she muttered something beneath her breath. "You're okay. You're okay. You're here," she whispered and although I enjoyed her loving embrace, my body rejected her. I jerked back and out of her hold, glaring at her.
"Men, we found her. Call off operations," Dinah spoke into her mic, pressing the small earpiece before she directed her attention back to me. "Oh my love, I a-"
"Who the hell are you calling your love?! Did you magically forget what you told me in the parking lot like you magically forgot that you had a wife?!" I shouted and heads turned towards us but her men immediately looked down and went on to cleaning up and leaving.
"Lauren. Ple-" I felt myself overfilling with rage as she gave me her best "I'm sorry" look. Too bad this shit wasn't working for me.
"Oh shut your mouth, Dinah! Get out! Just leave!" I yelled and her gaze fell. I was about to walk away when I felt her steel grip on my wrist. Oh god.
"Where do you think you're going?" Her tone was deadly cold and I felt myself shudder at her touch.
"Home."
"Then you're coming me." I felt myself start shaking my head no, trying to pull from her grip.
"No, please. You can't-"
"You're mine, and you'll do what I say." Feeling a surge of courage, I ripped my wrist from her hold and tried to run to the house but a firm hand in my hair stopped me. "Trying to run already?"
I started to cry helplessly as she pushed me into the car, watching my new home fade away. How could she do this? Again.
