Lauren
I was starting to fall for her again, and it was terrible. I didn't want to be in love with the monster known as Dinah Jane. I wanted to be away from her, somewhere I could be safe. But when she looked at me, like I was her whole world, my heart acted quicker than my brain could.
I hated how my body betrayed myself and would fall captive to her touch, like she was the only one who could love me. I knew that wasn't true, but for some reason, my heart wanted it to be.
I wanted the hurt, I wanted the pain, I wanted the electric tingles that were elicited whenever her skin touched mine. I craved all of it, but I found myself begging for her to be normal. I wanted a wife who could love, and be gentle, not someone who ran on the blood of death.
I had thought I could change her, and oh what a mistake that was. I obviously couldn't help her. She was untouchable in this world. No one had the power to turn her thoughts except herself and maybe even her father. She just, wasn't controllable. She knew that.
"Lauren, I brought someone to see you." I looked up from my book, my eyes widening at the sight of Camila standing next to Dinah, a small smile on her lips.
"Hi Lo," she spoke quietly and I jumped up, walking to her quickly before looking at Dinah. Was this some cruel joke? Was she going to hurt her or something?
"Hey," I whispered, my voice quiet as I stared at her in disbelief.
"I'll leave you too alone. Just call if you need anything," Dinah spoke and I watched in confusion as she walked down the hallway, going into her office.
"Did she threaten you?" I immediately asked once the door to Dinah's office shut, pulling Camila inside my reading room.
"No," Camila answered, feeling around for my arms before wrapping her arms beneath mine in a hug.
"Are you sure? Really Camila, if she did then you can tell me-"
"She didn't. I promise." She stayed like that, hugging me tightly which only made me feel like Dinah had threatened her to get her to come here.
Eventually, my arms wrapped around her and sighed contently. "Did you hear about what happened to Mani's warehouses?" She asked.
"No." I felt a bad feeling forming in my gut as I pulled away, a frown on Camila's lips.
"Someone blew them all up, killing a ton of people and leaving dozens injured." I gasped, suddenly afraid that something had happened to Normani or Ally.
"Is she okay?"
"Yeah, she's fine. Just very shaken up. One of the men had forgot to turn off the sound and when Mani was in one of the warehouses with Ally and Jojo, she heard it and got them out in time."
"Does she have any idea who did this?" I questioned and sat down, Camila's expression emotionless as she held a straight face. She was silent which made the name pop into my head. Dinah. "Dinah?" I spoke quietly and Camila nodded sadly, finding her hands in my own. "But what did Dinah have against Normani?"
"Well, she was the one who took you from her in California. But I have a feeling something else happened." Camila sighed and shook her head, obviously disappointed with what had happened. "When I spoke to her, she seemed terribly angry and I'm scared she's going to do something back to Dinah if she figures out it was her."
"You didn't tell her?" I stared at my best friend in disbelief who cracked a small smile.
"Loyal to my Capo forever, yeah?" She said quietly and I couldn't help but smile as she laughed. I couldn't believe someone as great as Camila was constantly being pulled into this.
"You are amazing," I spoke softly, hugging her tightly again. "Thank you, thank you so much."
"Anything for you Lolo, now, do you wanna come out Rosa?" Camila said and I pulled away in confusion, looking around the room. Dinah wasn't in here, but then the door was pushed open a little more and Dinah peeked her head in. How had Camila heard her?
"Tia!!!" She yelled excitedly, squealing as she ran to Camila and climbed up into her lap, enveloping her in a hug. "I missed you!!!"
"Oh, I missed you too, Rosalina," she answered and hugged Dinah. She had opted to using Dinah's middle name instead of her first and I had a feeling it had to do with what my wife had done to her eyes.
"Are you staying the night again?! Are we gonna have a sweepover?!" My daughter was now jumping up and down in Camila's lap which caused me to pull her off.
"Hey, be careful baby. You don't want to hurt your Tia," I warned and Dinah glared, trying to get back to Camila.
"But I wanna hug Tia!!" She yelled and I frowned, letting go of my child.
"It's okay Lauren." Camila smiled in the general direction I was in and took Dinah into her arms again. "I'm sorry baby but I can't stay tonight. Maybe some other time though, okay?"
My daughter's smile immediately dropped and she started to cry, wrapping her knuckles in Camila's yellow shirt. "But I want you to stay," she sobbed as Camila rubbed her back soothingly.
"It's okay, I'll be here for your birthday tomorrow. Okay? I'll see you again." Dinah calmed down quickly, much to my amazement. She was so good with kids.
"Okay," she repeated and hugged Camila tightly. "Do you wike chocolate cake? It's gonna have strawberries and bananas on it." The way my child could change topics so quickly confused me to a level I couldn't explain. Only ten seconds ago, she had been crying because she didn't want Camila to go but now she was talking about her birthday.
"Oh I love chocolate cake. And bananas. I loveeee bananas," Camila exaggerated to make the child happy which worked like usual.
"Really?! I wike bananas too!" Camila smiled and pushed my daughter's thick hair out of her eyes.
"Mhm. They're the best food ever."
"Excuse me but Nutella is the best food ever," I spoke up and Camila laughed.
"Mommy says it's not food." Dinah said and sat down in Camila's lap.
"Oh please. If your mommy thinks captain crunch is food then Nutella qualifies just as much." We all laughed and Camila reached a hand over, sliding it over mine before she got to the book sitting next to me.
"What are you reading?" She asked curiously, pulling her legs up onto the couch and turning to face me, sitting criss cross with Dinah in her lap. To my surprise, regardless of being blind, Camila still had a great sense of style. She was wearing a black shirt with light blue jeans and then one of those high school jackets that was pink.
"The Fault in Our Stars." I answered. "Again." She laughed lightly.
"What time is it now?"
"Sixth." Camila laughed again, knowing how much I loved the book. "Hey! Don't judge okay! It's a great book."
"It's a sad book."
"Well you're a sad book!"
"Did you not get any sleep last night Lo? That's the weakest comeback all month," she spoke and we both laughed as she held out her hands for me to give her the book. Luckily, the front of the book popped out and she could hopefully feel the large two words.
"Okay?" She said, a small smile on her lips.
"Okay."
So, next chapter will probably be the last. It's gonna be all big a dramatic. Might be some death too.
