Lauren
I was dead inside, at least that's what it felt like every time the hot whip came down on my bare back, or when I felt the iron brand burn into my skin. I wasn't living, I was just breathing, and by now, those seemed like two very different things.
I hated Dinah, but I found myself praying that she would find me. I hoped she cared enough to find me, or if not, enough about me being her possession to want me. Before I was kidnapped, she had at least protected me. It was because of my father separating us that I would never see her again.
Maybe being married to her was absolutely terrible, but at least I was safer as her wife in her arms. If only I'd realized this sooner.
"Lauren, we wanna play a little game with you," a voice whispered from the dark and I looked up, my hair falling over my eyes as I squinted, trying to see.
"Yeah, we wanna have some fun with Hansen's girl," another voice spoke and I shivered at their words, knowing exactly what they were talking about. They had done it too many times already, I couldn't take any more.
"Please, leave me alone. I've done nothing," I choked out as the figures became a little more visible in the dim lighting.
"Maybe not, but you're a pretty pretty girl, and we wanna play," the man whispered again and I flinched as I felt a finger tracing my jawline. My legs crossed over one another, trying to protect myself as I felt his breath against my ear.
"Please, no more," I begged and the other man chuckled darkly, coming out into the light.
"You think we'd miss our chance to touch the Junior Caporegime's wife? We'll never get another offer like this," I felt the man move behind me, his arms reaching around me.
I shivered uncomfortably as his hands groped down along my body before pushing my legs open, making tears come to my eyes again. "No, no, no!" I shook my head, beginning to sob and scream as it all happened again.
-
My eyes were closed, breathing calmly as I hung from the ceiling. My hands were in cuffs above my head, holding me up, my toes barely grazing the cold stone beneath my feet. I wished they would just kill me, I wanted to be out of this.
My head perked up at the sound of yelling. The room had thick brick walls so I couldn't understand what they were saying but I knew they were angry, and that's when the door flew open.
I yelped and my hands were yanked from the cuffs quickly, a man pulling me into a choke hold. "Let go," I whimpered and he tightened his hold, pulling me into the dark.
"Be quiet, say a word and I shoot you," he whispered and I felt the hot tears running down my cheeks as the cold barrel of a gun rested against my head.
"Where is she?!" My breath caught when I heard her voice. Dinah's voice. She was here. I sighed in pure happiness. I was going home, she was taking me home.
Her voice was followed by the sound of gun shots and I felt sick to my stomach, fearing she had been shot but then I heard a round go off.
"You bastards! Where is she?!" She yelled and I bit back the words that I wanted to scream, remembering I was practically a hostage. I wanted to scream her name, I wanted her to find me.
My ears started to ache as more bullets were shot and I nearly collapsed but the man held me up, his choking reminding me to stay up.
There was a final groan and I knew she had killed them all, or left them to suffer."Lauren?" She yelled and I continued crying silently, wanting to call out so badly. I stared at the open door helplessly, knowing he had left it open so it was less suspicious. She wouldn't see me in the dark. He knew this and that made my skin cold at the thought of her leaving me here.
She wouldn't be that oblivious, would she? "Lauren?" She called out again.
