The final bell sounded and I let out a sigh of relief knowing that I could make my escape. Today practice was cancelled because, actually I had no idea. I decided to swing down and check if that was actually the case before I decided what to do with myself do the day.
I packed up and headed down to the locker room. I changed into some workout clothes and then left everything in my locker before I headed out to the field with a pair of slides on.
I opened the door and looked out. No one was out there yet and the locker room was empty. I closed the door and made my way back. I grabbed some things I would need for the weight room and began to make my way there.
I walked slow enough so I could spot any of my teammates heading to the locker room but the hallway was quiet other than the other sports teams.
I texted one of my fellow captains just to make sure before I pushed open the door to the weight room and made my way inside.
For once I hoped it would be an easy night so I could get some sleep.
I set my bag down and connected my phone, leaving the volume slightly lower as not to disturb the other teams practices. I then began to do my workout, waiting for my phone to go off with a message.
Not long after I began my phone lit up with confirmation that everyone had gone home for the day as she had checked as well.
I nodded satisfied and continued to work on my reps.
I flew through the weight training today, only taking forty minutes where usually I would take about an hour.
Without anything else to do I packed up and decided to go and watch the boys volleyball practice. I changed back into my uniform and packed up my things then I made my way to the court.
I could hear the girls inside screaming and I knew it was an open practice. I let out a sigh of relief as I pushed open the door to the stairs leading to the seats above. I let that sigh out too soon.
When I reached the top all the fangirls eyes were on me. 'Right. Lunch yesterday.'
I ignored them and instead continued past, standing alone against the railing far away from them. I set my bag between my legs and the railing and I leaned my forearms onto the cold metal bar.
Oikawa turned to wave at a screaming fangirl but when he saw me his attention shifted. He smiled widely, a real smile that was different than the one he was about to give his admirers, and waved widely.
Iwaizumi looked ready to throw a volleyball at him but decided to let him have his moment, turning instead to spike with their other setter.
Oikawa gave me a wink and a final wave before he grabbed another ball and turned back to set for his team.
I rolled my eyes but I still did smile. 'He really can be cute sometimes.'
"Excuse me?" I turned to see three girls standing there, all looking mildly uncomfortable with talking to me.
"Yes, can I help you with something?" I asked as I turned to the side, keeping my right forearm on the metal barrier.
"I just wanted to ask you if you're dating Oikawa. You two have seemed pretty close lately and I wanted to understand who you think you are." I raised an eyebrow at her as I stood up straighter.
"We're just friends so nothing to get your little ponytail into a twist about." I said with a sinister smile. "And I think I am someone who should be more well respected since obviously you seem to be a first year. So I would like you to respect me as I would respect you."
'I really just pulled that card. God I hate myself.'
She shifted between her feet and looked down, nervously wringing her hands before she looked up at me. "I'm sorry but Oikawa works for his fans-"
"That's where your wrong. He does things for you because he things your all nice girls who have nothing better to do and doesn't want to hurt your feelings. Not that I'm saying that's wrong."
'Yes I am.'
I continued. "However he is his own person who can decide what he wants to do for himself and his own relationships that should not defined by girls who obsess over him instead of finding someone who can actually understand them individually." I should have stopped there but now I was on a roll. "And even if we were in a relationship I hope to god that all of you would respect him enough to let him decide who he would like to be with. Now good day and leave me please."
"Okay but-"
"Good day." I said more sternly. The girls looked scared and like they completely understood. They still seemed unsatisfied but they turned around and made their way back over to the cluster. I turned back towards the court and leaned back on the metal.
Oikawa was looking up at me as he drank from his water bottle. he removed the bottle from his mouth and raised an eyebrow at me. He motioned slightly towards where the girls just went.
I turned to see a few looking at me but most of them still had their eyes on the court. The ones that looked didn't look angry, more like they were observing me, questioning what I was to Oikawa or what others see in me. 'I guess that's a good sign.'
I turned back to the setter and shook my head, raising a hand to block my mouth I mouthed 'tell you later.'
He nodded, seeming confused and unsatisfied but he smiled nonetheless at me and returned to his practice.

"So the fangirls didn't say anything else?" I nodded. "Did you really say that to them?" I nodded again.
"They seemed a little taken back but I think or at least I hope they understood the message." I told Oikawa as we walked, him deciding that he was going to walk me as close my house as I was going to allow.
He was quiet for a moment before he looked back up at me. "And they didn't threaten you right?"
"Don't worry, they didn't." I said as I kept my eyes forward. I made sure there were no cars coming before I walked straight across the street.
"I want to know if they do."
"Don't worry I'll tell you." I said as we came to another intersection. I began to look for cars when I felt two firm hands on my shoulders. I was turned around to look at a completely serious Oikawa Tooru.
My breath caught in my throat.
He only ever looked as serious as he did in that moment when he is on the court during a match.
"Promise me you'll tell me."
"I promise." His smile immediately returned as he continued walking.
"Hey Miyumi-Chan you should become team manager!"
"Oikawa I play soccer."
"If that ever doesn't work out then you should join me! I want to get to spend more time with you." I smiled and shook my head, knowing he was trying to brush off the seriousness that just occurred moments before.
"Maybe I'll think about it in a million years."
"Miyumi-Chan your so mean."
And Oikawa truly cares.
