Friday I was dismissed from practice a half hour early by Sensei to go and return my Aoba Joshai homework to the school. With of course the promise that I would stay longer to practice with him the next day.
I would have asked Junko to do it but apparently I had to turn it in directly since it was my work. I let out a sigh as I hopped onto the train. I scanned my pass and made my way down to find an open seat.
The train was quiet and for once I was able to find a seat far away from everybody else. I put in my headphones and looked out the window.
It took a lot less time to get there than I anticipated. I quickly climbed off the train and made my way to the school. This would be my last time in here dropping things off like this. Or at least I hoped it would be.
I pushed open the front doors and walked inside. I was still in my Shiritorizawa uniform but it couldn't be helped, it's where I go now.
The few stragglers left in the building looked at me curiously as they walked by me. Acting as if I couldn't hear them, I ignored them to the best of my ability and went straight for the office.
"Hello, is the Principle here?" I asked.
"Oh yes, he's right in his office." The secretary said with a smile. "What's your name dear? Then I'll make sure that he can see you now."
"um Hachiko Miyumi."
"Oh are you here to drop off your school work?" I nodded. "Then come right this way, that way you can head home. You're probably exhausted from all your activities and still have to go home."
'You're telling me.'
She motioned for me to follow her and so I did. We walked down a short hallway and she knocked on the door of the Principles office. "Come in."
She then opened the door and motioned for me to go inside. "I'm Hachiko Miyumi, I'm sorry for the intrusion sir but I have my work for you." He smiled widely.
"Excellent! Let's see it!" I set my bag down onto a chair in front of his desk and unzipped it. I grabbed my folder with the school work in it and pulled out the large packet and handed it to him.
He flipped through it, making sure it was all complete. He nodded satisfied and closed the packet. He placed a sticky note on it and handed it to the secretary.
"I'm sorry for how long it took me to turn this in sir." I said with a bow.
"Please don't apologize. I know club activities at Shiritorizawa are tough on you and you have little time. As long as you got it to me I don't mind. So now we can get these to your teachers and they can get your grades complete so they can transfer them."
"Thank you." I said as bowed again.
"No problem. Enjoy your weekend."
"You too." I said as I zipped up my bag and left the room, closing the door behind me. I let out a sigh of relief as I walked out of the office. Not before thanking the secretary one more time before I left. As I walked down the hallway I heard a voice calling out my name.
I turned and smiled. "Iwaizumi!" I cheered. I dropped my bag at my feet as I ran over to him, engulfing him in a huge. The ace laughed as he hugged me back.
"How ya been over there?" He asked as he let go of me. "Sounds like everything's going well from your texts ."
"Yeah it's been great! I really love it there." I said, my smile growing more and more genuine while inside I grew more and more nervous. "How's everything going here?" I asked, playing hesitantly with my fingers.
'If he's here than he can't be far behind. I need to speed up the conversation.'
"It's been the same. Nothing here has seemed to change other than Oikawa's fangirls have been growing more and more restless."
I cocked my head to the side, becoming curious and forgetting about my escape. "What do you mean?"
"Well, now that you're gone they see Oikawa as an open market deal." He shrugged. "It's stupid if you ask me. So I've been sneaking off and leaving him with them more."
I nodded. "Well they are a handful sometimes."
He chuckled. "You don't even know the half of it."
Before I could reply a loud yell was heard from down the hallway followed by an "Iwa-Chan!"
My heart dropped to my feet, my smile falling from my face. Iwaizumi noticed and turned, standing between me and the man running our way. I stared at the boys back, unable to make myself look.
"Ah Iwa-Chan! Why would you leave me?" He whined.
"I wanted to head home Trashykawa and with those fangirls of yours it could take days." I peeked at the boy and I saw him look around Iwaizumi, his eyes widening.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, his voice sounded hurt and broken. He did his best to hide the pain on his face, instead showing distaste and malice.
"I had paperwork to drop off." I replied harshly as I stepped out from behind Iwaizumi.
"Are you sure you're not here to continue bothering me?" He asked, his voice the lowest I'd ever heard from him. He made the same face he made when he didn't hit a practice serve over the net, raising one eyebrow and biting on the side of his lip, the left side of his lip popping out in an annoyed pout.
"Don't worry, although according to you that's the only reason I showed up, I actually have a life that doesn't involve you in it!" I turned on my heel and started walking away, not giving me enough time to see the pain that I inflicted on him. I grabbed the strap of my backpack as I walked by, swinging it up harshly onto my shoulders.
I couldn't look at him anymore. I couldn't look back. The pain inflicted on me, caused by my actions and his hurt me too much. I heard Iwaizumi scolding Oikawa for his actions while the setter tried to call to say something, to call out to me. I moved further and further away, finally exiting the building, I hoped with all of my being that I would never have to see him again.
