The summer began and captains practices started not long after. They ran smoothly considering the amount of new people that wanted to try out for the team, first through third years alike.

When we were done I practiced alone or I went to the weight room like I had done for the summers before.

It was on a night about a week into summer that I was in the weight room some. My music was playing like it always did as I lifted my weights. Then I heard a knock on the door.

I let out a sigh as I set down my dumbbells onto the floor and sat up from my bench. The door opened and I turned to see a familiar face.

"Hello."

"I could hear your music all the way down by the volleyball courts." He said as he leaned nonchalantly against the door frame. "You like it loud huh?" He said with a smirk.

I ignored the innuendo and instead lifted my leg over my bench and stood up. I grabbed my towel and wiped some sweat from my forehead as I went over to my music and turned it down. "I'm sorry to disturb you. I thought I was the only one here at this time of night."

He chuckled, shaking his head. "Whenever I'm here you seem to be here." I raised an eyebrow and he looked shocked. "Are you that oblivious that you don't notice me?" He put a hand to his heart as he looked completely horrified.

"No sorry. I come in here to work so I don't pay much attention to anything else." I picked up the weights and set them back onto the rack. Then I made my way over to the bar.

"And don't worry, I don't stalk you." I turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow once again. "I mean I know you're here by your music."

I rolled my eyes and turned away from him and grabbed some weights to put onto my bar. "You are a special one." I mumbled. I ducked under the bar and started squatting.

"Why are you always here so late?" He asked as he stepped into the weight room.

"I have a lot of training to do if I'm going to do well." I said with a huff as I kept going.

I saw his eyes wander and I ignored him as I kept working. "Why are you here so late?"
I asked the male.

"You know, I have a lot to do." When I looked back at him in the mirror he winked at me. I rolled my eyes and kept going. Twenty more to go.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Serving practice, spiking, some new setting techniques." He shrugged as he put his hands in his pockets. "Gotta keep up with the best so I can be the best." He smiled. If I didn't know that he always flashed that smile then I might have melted on the spot. But I knew that smile was as fake as the rubber mat under my feet.

"Sure."

He looked uncharacteristically annoyed that I wasn't falling for his charm. He let out a huff and began to pout like a little kid. "Why won't you look at me?" He exclaimed.

I finished my twenty and put the bar back onto the hooks. I stepped out from under the bar. I turned around to face Oikawa, our faces were close together, the bar separating our bodies. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"If you wouldn't mind, you need to move." I said calmly. He didn't budge. "I need to put the discs back so I can continue my workout."

"Not before I get your name."

"I'm surprised you don't already know it." I replied slyly as I placed my hands on the bar and leaned towards him.

He leaned forward with a smirk on his face. "Oh everybody knows you."

"And what do you know?"

"The list would be too long."

I tried my best to resist rolling my eyes. "Oh really. Well the same goes for you Oikawa-San." I whispered.

"All good things I bet."

"Not from my view." I said as I pushed him back and stepped under the bar. I ignored him as I began putting the weights back onto the racks.

"What does that mean Miyumi-Chan!" He whined.

I flinched. "Look." I said as I leaned against the metal pole. "I don't do guys like you."

"You don't do guys at all from what I've heard." Oikawa said quietly.

I ignored him and continued. "All the guys I've met here are like you or want to be you." I stepped forward, crossing my arms over my chest. "They play girls hearts. And I don't have time to be messed with. I have aspirations and I can't afford to be distracted. Not by the likes of you."

"The likes of me! That hurts Miyumi-Chan!" He whined.

"Then maybe you should learn how to cherish people instead of using every girl in this school for your benefit in this fangirl army." I had enough and so I grabbed my towel and disconnected my phone from the speakers.

"Have a nice night Oikawa-San." I said as I left the gym, leaving him behind. An unreadable expression was on his face, the gears turning in his head as he thought about what I meant.
