Getting to know You (Oikawa Tooru )

Tryouts we're finally done. All of that worry could be put out of the way, at least for now. I was on the team, as anticipated.

I threw myself back onto the couch and let out a sigh. I was wet from my quick shower and all I wanted was a nap. Homework I had gotten and done a few days in advance so I didn't have to worry about anything. But for some odd reason my body did not want to sleep!

I groaned as I tossed and turned like someone rolling over a sack of potatoes, clumsy and floppy, as I was on the couch.

My phone began to buzz and I slowly reached over and picked up the device. I slid the answer button across the screen and put the phone to my ear.

"Hi Mom, what's up?"

"I just wanted to call and see how you were doing. I know tryouts were today." I smiled as I thought about her in her hotel room, looking out the bright morning light of Paris, France.

"It was long but I think I did alright." I replied as I lied on my back and looked up at the ceiling.

"I'm glad to hear you worked hard. But I shouldn't expect any less by now."

My mom laughed and I closed my eyes. "I miss you." I said as I imagined her, maybe instead out on a balcony overlooking the city. The morning was still early enough so it was quiet, the breeze warm as it swayed her short hair.

"I miss you too. Don't worry, I'll be home soon." I nodded, even though she couldn't see me. I knew she meant it. "I have to go to a meeting now but I promise we'll talk later."

"Ok Mom, I love you."

"I love you too Miyumi." The call ended and my phone closed, returning to the home screen of my and my parents

I took a deep breath and rolled over and turned on the tv. I turned on a new anime, Blue Exorcist. I clicked play and cuddled down on the pillow, reaching up to the back of the couch and pulled a blanket down. I threw it over my legs and curled up.

The theme song played as my phone began to vibrate against the wooden table. I picked it up and saw a text from my dad.

6:23 pm

Dad:
Hey honey, figured you'd be home from school and tryouts. I know you did well. Rest up and when dinner is ready I have some dinner for you in the fridge and desert in the freezer.

I smiled as I typed back.

Miyumi:
Thanks dad. See you later! I love you.

I set my phone back onto the table and settled myself back onto the couch. My phone buzzed and I knew it was just dad replying again so I let it buzz for another few seconds before it stopped.

For the rest of the day I just relaxed alone.

When I got the energy I took a soothing bath. I even did a face mask and painted and groomed my nails. The day was peaceful.

It was the calm before the storm.
