"Feel better?"
"You just handed me a towel! I'm the one who had to figure out how to use it to help my face!"
"Well Miyumi-chan you're the one who jumped into my practice and had me serve to you!"
"Oikawa-San you almost collapsed because of your knee!" I said gesturing to his right leg before walking over to my locker and putting in the combination.
"It's not that bad! Don't worry." He said with a wave of his hand before he kept walking past the aisle my locker was in and headed to his.
"It is bad. You have to take care of yourself. If you don't then you won't be able to play." I yelled out, loud enough so he could hear me from his locker a few aisles over.
"Don't worry Miyumi-chan! I can handle this. I'm a grown man. If I couldn't then what use would I be?"
I groaned as I let my head fall against the cool locker beside my open one. "Oikawa-San I swear you are the biggest idiot I have ever met!"
"That's so rude Miyumi-chan!"
"We'll learn to take care of yourself!" I yelled as I stuffed my small gym bag into my backpack and slung the straps over my shoulders. I looked up, realizing I forgot to put on my jacket and let out a groan.
"I'm fine Miyumi-chan!" I looked up at Oikawa's approaching footsteps and watched as his brown waves appeared around the corner first before I saw his playful brown eyes and his huge grin. "See! I'm good!"
I remembered how Iwaizumi-San always threw something at Oikawa when he thought he needed to be put back into line, like a fist or a book. "I wish I had a soccerball to throw at you." I mumbled as I slid my backpack off my back and slid on my Aoba Joshai soccer jacket.
"Stop being like Iwa-chan!" I still can't get over how he calls Iwaizumi-San "cute" every time he says his name. I don't mind it but I find it strange.
'Do they have a thing going on no one knows about?' I paused as I thought about it. 'They could, I mean, Iwaizumi was good at keeping secrets. But Oikawa-'
I turned my head to look at the setter. '-I don't know if he'd be able to keep his mouth shut.'
"Miyumi-chan! You complained about leaving and now your stalling!" He exclaimed as he walked over, closed my locker and locked it for me.
I looked up at him as he did so and realized he had put on his volleyball jacket. I don't know why I expected differently but I guess I had hoped he wouldn't. A blush spread across my face as I retrieved my backpack from the floor and started to walk towards the front exit.
"I was thinking. Sorry." I replied as I returned my backpack to my shoulders.
"About what?" He asked, calling out loudly to me as I continued to walk. He quickly caught up to me with his giant tree legs as I was exiting the building.
"Just about how you and Iwaizumi could be a couple." I replied with a shrug.
"How come you don't talk about Iwa-chan with honorifics?" He exclaimed, waving his arms around like a maniac behind me as he slowed down and then stopped to have a mental breakdown.
I let out a sigh, "Did you ignore the rest of what I said?" I replied as I rolled my eyes and tightened my ponytail.
"Iwa-chan and I aren't dating either!" He exclaimed. "Don't get the wrong idea!" Somehow he was able to keep complete composure, no blush no nothing.
'Wait, the tips of his ears are red.'
I laughed and shook my head. "Keep telling yourself that Oikawa-Kun!"
His annoyed groan was heard further behind me. I turned around, walking backwards in order to look, and saw him jogging to catch up. "Come on slow poke!" I replied. I awarded him a kidding smile before I turned around and began to walk forward once more.
"I'm coming! You just walk faster then a normal human being!" He exclaimed as he caught up to me.
"You're taller, therefore you should walk the same pace as me since your steps are bigger."
"That's not how it works."
"It is now."
"Miyumi-chan." He whined.
"It is. You can't fight the logic. Maybe your muscles are just too weak and that's why you walk so slow." I replied as I shrugged my shoulders, putting my arms up too to add emphasis.
"Oh yeah." I could hear the challenge in his voice. I went to turn to look at him when I felt my feet leave the ground. I let out a scream as I grabbed tighter onto his Aoba Johsai volleyball jacket.
"Oikawa put me down right now!" He only laughed as he started to run faster. I turned my head, putting it into his shoulder, my heart racing as I held tightly to his jacket. "Oh god I'm going to die."
Suddenly Oikawa stopped. I let out a small shriek as I felt like I was going to slide from his arms. I quickly wrapped my arms around his neck. I heard Oikawa let out a small giggle.
I looked up, eyes wide from fear of innevitable death and saw the biggest Cheshire Cat grin on his face. A slight blush was now on his cheeks from the run and he looked pleased with himself.
I on the other hand was blushing from the close proximity of our faces. "Now who's the weak one." I narrowed my eyes immediately and punched this shoulder as hard as I could trying to ignore my heart pounding in my ribcage.
"Now that's mean Oikawa! I wouldn't actually throw something at you and yet you try to kill me!" I yelled as I punched him again.
Suddenly his arms let go. With nothing under me I screamed as I fell to the ground, my butt slamming into the pavement. "Well that was graceful." I mumbled as I gave up and let myself lay back on the sidewalk. "Thanks by the way." I said to him as narrowed my eyes as I looked up towards him.
"I'm so sorry Miyumi-chan!" He exclaimed as he reached down, and before I could extend my hand he decided to wrap his arms around my waist and pull me to my feet.
His slightly pink face from the run only grew redder with how close our faces were. His eyes widened and so did mine as I pushed back, pulling on the straps on my bag before quickly turning on my heel and continuing to walk. I could feel my face heating up even more than before.
'Well thanks Oikawa. That was awkward.'
"Miyumi-chan!"
'Shoot has he been calling me that this whole time? And I didn't notice?? This is why I wanted him to stop, before I got used to it and forgot and it created more problems!'
"It's Hachiko, Oikawa-San!" I yelled slightly over my shoulder as I continued to walk.
I didn't hear anything for a few moments until I heard brisk footsteps heading towards me. I immediately spun around, throwing my hands up in front of me at the ready.
Oikawa stopped, tilting his head in confusion for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Mi-" I narrowed my eyes once more. "Hachiko-chan, what are you doing?"
"You are walking by my side this whole time so that I can see you from my peripheral vision at all times."
"Gotcha!" He replied with a cheeky wink as he continued to walk, walking so that he was now slightly ahead of me. I turned back forward, watching him. "Come on or well never get home!"
I let out a sigh as I picked up my walking pace until I was beside him.
'No offense to him but how did I get stuck with him.'
Luckily for my heart the rest of the walk home was quiet. Oikawa must have known he had done enough for one night and decided to back off and leave me alone. That's all I could do to thank him but other then that I was cursing him for making my face blush and my heart pound.
