What happened?

Shelby's pov

"So does anyone have any clue on what the heck just happened?" I asked. Everyone just shook their heads and looked away from me. I stood up and took a step toward Ross. He immediately stepped back with a scared look on his face.

"Ross, what's wrong? Why do you look so scared?" I asked, starting to get worried. He just started shaking and pointed at the floor where I was standing. I looked down and saw that the ground was completely scorched. I took a step back only to see that wherever I stepped that part of the ground started to burn. Ross was still freaking out and Max quickly ran over to him. He started to calm him down and I figured I should probably stay away from them for now. I looked over to see Scott starting to walk over to me. I took a step back, worried that I would burn him. I looked down to see that ice was covering the spaces on the floor where he was stepping.

"Guys, I have an idea," Lizzie started," since Shelby and Scott's powers contradict each other, maybe they can make some sort of connection, like holding hands for example, and it would make it so their powers weren't so out of control." Lizzie was always great at science and stuff so we figured it was worth a shot. Scott and I slowly approached each other and hesitantly took each other's hands. We took a few steps and I saw that the floor wasn't burning anymore. I started jumping up and down in excitement and squealing.

"Ow Shelby, my ears," Max shouted.

"Sorry, I'm just excited that it worked, now I don't have to worry about hurting anyone!" I squealed. I ran over to Lizzie while dragging Scott behind me, making sure we didn't lose contact. I gave Lizzie a huge hug thanking her for coming up with this solution.

"Um, guys, I just realized this but we crashed into the ditch, how are we in a warehouse?" Scott asked.

"Oh well once Lizzie and I woke up we saw this warehouse and decided it would probably be best if we headed to some shelter. We somehow got everyone over here, though we had to put you and Shelby on these blankets we found so we wouldn't burn ourselves or get frostbite. We stuck everyone else on cots, but we had to put you guys on the floor, sorry" Max explained, still standing next to Ross. Scott nodded and let out this huge yawn. I realized just how tired I was and suggested that Scott and I go take a nap. Joel led us over to where the cots were. We would have to share one because otherwise, we would completely destroy the cots we were on. Scott laid down on the cot and I laid down next to him. I quickly fell asleep with Scott's arms around me.

Lizzie's pov

Once Shelby and Scott went to take a nap we started talking about trying to learn to control our new powers. We decided that we could go into the huge field behind the warehouse to train so that nobody got hurt. We also started talking about how we would need to go get food at some point. While the guys were talking about how they could try to fix the car I slipped outside to get a breath of fresh air. I was walking around the building when I saw a piece of paper on the ground. I picked it up and quickly read over it in my head. It looked like some kind of warning. I quickly ran back inside to show the others what I had found.
