An Army

Kailey's pov

I slowly opened my eyes and squinted at the bright light coming in from the window. I slowly sat up and stretched, feeling amazing after the nap I just took. I heard singing coming from the room next to mine and I decided to go check it out. I walked over to the room and knocked, not wanting to disturb whoever's room it was. I heard a faint come in, and I quietly opened the door. Yukari was sitting on her bed, staring at the wall.

"Hey, how are you doing?" I sat next to her, careful not to scare her. She just shrugged and smiled, still staring at the wall. "You can talk, you know. We're not like David, you're not gonna get hurt by any of us, I promise." Yukari took in a shaky breath and nodded, and turned to look at me.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have helped David. I knew it was wrong, but I did it anyway, just to save myself. I should have said no, I should, I should," Yukari was sobbing by now, hugging herself. She kept apologizing, saying how she was selfish and how she was a horrible person. I rubbed her back as she cried, trying to comfort her.

"You had no choice, I did the same thing. I helped David for years, I was his right hand for a few projects, and you know what, I didn't want to be either. But I knew if I didn't he would torture me, hurt me. So, I did what he told me to, and I hated myself for it. The worst part was that even if I did what he told me to, he would still hurt me, even though he promised not to. I felt like I did it for nothing, which made me feel even worse. But I realize now that it would have been worse if I disobeyed him. We did what we had to to survive. Don't blame yourself, blame him," I quietly talked to Yukari, and she was slowly calming down. We talked for what was probably hours. We talked about David, music, hobbies, and everything in-between. It was starting to get dark by the time we decided to go talk to the others. We were ready to take down David and get our revenge.

Scott's pov

Shelby, Max, Lizzie Nick, and I were all sitting around a table looking at a map of David's castle. Derek, Max, Ross, and Cory were sitting on the couch discussing how we were gonna take David down.

"He has a whole army of people with magic, and most of them would give their life for him. He's got them brainwashed to the point of no return. They're powerful too, and they outnumber us at least ten to one. If we're gonna do this, it's going to have to be a stealth mission," Nick was pointing to points where we could sneak in. We were all so engaged in trying to find the best place to go in we didn't even notice Kailey and Yukari come in.

"There's a secret door on the left side. No one is ever there and it's super close to the lab. You guys could sneak in through there while I distract David. I'll pretend that I'm still under his control while you guys get in," Kailey walked over to the map and pointed to where the door would be located.

"No way, we're not putting you into danger like that," Derek stood up and walked over to Kailey with Max right behind him. They were both wholeheartedly against Kailey using herself as a distraction but Kailey wasn't going to take no for an answer.

"What if Kailey took Yukari with her? Kailey could pretend that she grabbed Yukari and used her to escape and is bringing her back to David if Yukari is okay with that. If anything starts to go south Yukari could use her power to get them out of there," Ross stood up, his little fox ears cocked as if he was thinking.

"Yes, I like that idea. There is no way I will let David do anything to Kailey. I shall pretend to have regretted my decision and willing have gone back with Kailey to accept my punishment," Yukari smiled as she promised to not let anything happen to the one person who wasn't afraid of her power. We all convinced Derek and Max, who were very reluctant to let Kailey put herself in this danger, but eventually agreed as long as Yukari would use her power to get them out of there if they even thought something was going wrong.

"So it's settled. We leave in three days, agreed?" Kailey looked at all of us as we nodded. It was getting late so we all went to our rooms to sleep for the night. Shelby and I crawled into bed and fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms.

Nick's pov

I followed Cory to our room and watched as he changed into his pajamas before he got into bed, facing away from me. I quickly changed myself and laid down next to him and cautiously wrapped my arm around him. Instead of pulling away he turned to face me and snuggled closer. I smiled as he began to trace the tattoos on my chest.

"They're beautiful," Cory whispered as he looked at them all. I smiled and pulled him as close as I could as sleep began to take over. I knew what was happening, and I knew I couldn't stop it. I was falling in love with a mortal.

What's this? An update? Finally, the author gets one out. I'm super sorry for the wait, schools starting soon for me so I've had to get ready for that plus I have Dance and Cheerleading every day. And on top of all that I sprained my knee so I get to hobble around on crutches. Anyhow I hope you all had a great day and an even better tomorrow! Bye
